Carey hosts 10 boys basketball squads from four counties and three exempted village schools for a Friday and Saturday district tournament at the high school gym. Schedule includes 1:30 start Friday, 7:30 evening games, semis at 2:00 and 3:30 Saturday, finals and consolation that night. Admission 35 and 25 cents.

The couple married fifty years ago in Carey and were joined by relatives including Ed Campbell Jr Marion Bland George Bland R Campbell and James Campbell for a family dinner after a quiet ceremony officiated by Rev Hawks of the Evangelical church. Mrs Campbell was born Jennie Rief in Jay county Indiana and came to Carey with her uncle Jacob Kneisel after her mother’s death.

Carey Community Club Meets at Moose Hall

The Carey Community Club met Monday evening at the Moose hall with good attendance. H. P. Bardon of Crane township was accepted as a new member. Music by an orchestra of the Wisner Brothers and Sherman Rangeler delighted attendees. The ladies banquet is planned for a week after Easter.

Power outage after crane hits high voltage line at rail crossing

Carey was without electricity from 4 35 to 5 30 Monday afternoon after a moving crane struck a 66 000 volt wire at the Big Four and Lincoln highway crossing near Forest. The wire snapped but no one was injured.

Mrs Emma Swank Dies at 48 Near Benton Ridge

Mrs. Emma Swank 48 died suddenly at her Benton Ridge area home on Sunday February 21. Funeral services were held Tuesday at Coldren's Findlay parlors with Rev. James M. Guyer officiating. interment Maple Grove Cemetery. Born November 3 1888 in Plain City Ohio she was daughter of Kilburn Sherwood and Lovina Beach. Surviving are four children Don Ruth Edith Stroub and Donald with siblings Irene Perkins Mary Fellabaum Bernard Sherwood and Andrew Sherwood. Attending relatives included Mr and Mrs Carl Stroub and Donald Wayne and Mr and Mrs Dave Stroub.

Choir to Sing Crucifixion at Lenten Service and March 13

The Queen Esther class will furnish the choir for the Lenten service at 7:30 this evening. Pastor continues fat discussing abundant life in modern times with A Paradox Finding Through Losing. A large chorus from Findlay Tiffin and Carey under William Platt Jr will perform Stainers Crucifixion at 4 00 o'clock Sunday afternoon March 13. A special platform will be built to accommodate the singers. The community is invited to attend.

Free Lunch Program Aids 42 School Children At High School

February meals served daily at the high school cafeteria funded by the PTA led by Mrs. Ervin Wentling. Forty two children were fed on February 26 to 42 meals with menu including vegetables, tapioca, bread, jelly and milk. Donations and purchases totaled $31.74 with various local donors and businesses contributing supplies and funds. The committee thanks all helpers and invites further assistance.

Funeral Services Held for Mrs Leedy Wife of Rev Leedy

Paulin led attenders Monday at the funeral of Mrs JR B Leedy wife of Rev Leedy pastor of the Evangeglehureh at Gibson. The service featured the Toledo district superintendent Rey Th Caldwell officiating assisted by Rev Col Allen of Columbus with choir from the Ohio conference directed by Rev Paulin and Rev Carla well. The ministers chorus sang Riches of Love The Beautiful Land The Better Land and No Tears at the grave. Thirty five Ohio conference ministers attended.
