Carey School Briefs Highlight Tests and Achievements

Williamses move to 102 acre Carey farm from Kraft land

Last week Mr and Mrs Glen Williams moved from the OP Kraft farm four miles west of Sycamore to a 102 acre farm north of Carey which they recently purchased from Austin Knowlton. The Knowltons have moved to the late Mrs William Pahl residence on Clay Street which they bought. Mr Knowlton works at the National Lime and Stone Co plant.

Charles Coldiron Awarded Flying Cross for Bravery

The War Department announced 50 Ohio Army Air Force personnel decorated for medium combat missions over the French coast. Included is Staff Sergeant Charles Coldiron of Route 1, Cargy, Ohio, awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross.

NOW CHIEF RADIO MAN Ritter Advances in Navy Rank

Charles L Ritter, now chief radioman and radioman 1st class, joined the United States Navy two years ago last December. He was advanced on February 5 and is stationed at Long Beach California as an instructor. Before enlisting, he was registered as an amateur radio operator for three years.

Carey Village Shifts Time To Eastern War Time

At a March 6 1944 meeting the Carey Olio village council voted to change official time from Central War Time to Eastern War Time effective Saturday April 1 at midnight. Mayor A E Constien presided and Clerk Jacob Nitrauer attested the order.

Methodist Sunday School Lesson Highlights Diller Leads

Mrs Rose Diller led a forceful lesson from the Bible in the Dorcas Bible class at the Methodist Sunday school last Sunday. The Wesleyan Guild led by Mrs S R Bame will take charge next Sunday with a large enrollment expected. The Methodist Men will meet next Monday at 8 PM with Judge Russell H Kear as speaker. Bowman buys Odd Fellows room in Findlay Street

Harry Bowman proprietor of an electrical repair shop has bought the store room on E Findlay street owned by Carey Lodge No 407 I O C F The room was formerly occupied by King's confectionery Bowman will move his shop from Eugene Hendricks office to the new location by April 1 He will continue electrical wiring repairing of radio and electrical appliances and other repair work.

Farm Sold Near Carey in 142 Acres Change

T J Edmondson of Chillicothe sold a 142 acre farm five miles east of Carey on route 193 to Jay Swerlein of Upper Sandusky. The sale was negotiated by John Risner, a real estate broker.

Blood Donor Unit Returns to Wyandot April Dates

Rev. Ray M. Dibble says mobile blood unit will visit Wyandot county April 17 to 19 with hours 12 30 to 4 45 pm on Monday and 10 am to 2 15 pm on Tuesday.
