The Tuesday teachers meeting closed with 100 percent attendance and a weekly rate near 93 percent system wide after illnesses. Six week tests were spread over two weeks, grade cards mailed early, and moving season added new pupils. Manual training students build extra doors to cut gym noise. project to be finished after the basketball tournament.
We note Patty Ann Sidenstricker had to relocate last week and welcome Don Risner as a new presence in the community.
Several girls cut pictures of fruit and flowers for spring posters. The following pupils earned 100 percent in spelling last week: Richard Bland, Bobby Gibson, Lloyd Hill, Rosemary Rook, Dean Roynon, Eugene Ulrich, Ferdinand Williams, Frederick Williams, Ruth Sammet, Donald Krebs, Arlene Robison, Anita Johnson. Attendance this week stood at 92 percent and last week we started percentage aid arithmetic Rosemary Book, News Reporter.
In a classroom activity, Col. Crawford's Grade 1 class builds a Dutch scene on a sand table and records signs of spring observed during the lesson.

Per cent in spelling for the past week lists Lois Kennerley Kenneth Dill Ruth Wenner Ronald Gibson as top participants in the school program.
The Farmers' and Sportsmen's Protective association meets on Tuesday March 14 at 8 p.m. at the American Legion hall to discuss fishing improvements along Tymockitee creek and landowner permissions. The group supports a small dam plan and federal conservation bills, including fishing tag requirements and wildlife education in schools.
The Woman's Missionary Society and the Jennie Larmonth Society met Tuesday at Mrs. H. B. Keller's home on E Findlay. Thirty-four attended. Presiding was Mrs. C. C. Heck with devotionals by Mrs. John Line. Miss Jennie Powell led the discussion on Christ the Preacher.
Farmers of the community are invited to a Schmidt Bros meeting on Thursday evening March 9. The 1939 Massey Harris Clipper Combine and the 101 Tractor will be on display with demonstrations of new features. Free prizes lunch and movies will be provided. Meeting starts at 7 30 pm.
The Parliamentary Home Study club of the Methodist Sunday school met at Miss Mattie Myers on HE Findlay street for last week's session. The fourth lesson covered Logic of Motions to Modify and Motions to Refer. A quiz on qualifications of a good presiding officer followed, with a discussion on Minutes and the five essential points in writing them.
Wesleyan Guild class of the Methodist church meets at Mrs Jo seph Schira’s home on E Findlay Street Monday evening March 13. Entertainment committee members named include Mrs Parl C Goff, Mrs Marion E Tinsler and Mrs Harry Mapes.

The Past Chiefs of the Carey Temple Pythian Sisters will gather at Mrs. R McDowell’s home on S. Vance Street for a Thursday lunch meeting on March 16. A potluck dinner will be served at noon.

Mrs Joseph Gibson of east of town received a box of Mexican candy from her aunt Miss Fannie Day who has traveled in Texas California Alabama Cuba and the Hawaii Islands in the last six months Also Donald Myers and children Mary Louise and Donovan received similar boxes The assortment included coated nuts sticks and bonbons and was unusual compared with domestic candy.
Correction states defective wiring was not the cause of last week’s Wednesday fire at the Troiano residence on Findlay Street. The exact cause remains unknown. Water was used to quench the blaze only in the cellars of the home.
A county meeting of the Knights of Pythias lodge will be held this Thursday evening in Syc amore. Members urged to meet at H. B Keller's office at 6 30 pm with Chancellor Commander in attendance.
A state convocation of Carey Chapter, No 169, R A M, met Friday evening. Dinner was served at 6 30 by the Eastern Stars. Companion Fred L Carhart of Marion district lecturer inspected the chapter. Work was conducted in the Mark Master degree.
An out-of-town motorist drove a Ford into a sewer excavation ditch on E Findlay street Tuesday night. The driver was reported uninjured.
The editor has been confined to her room for several days due to a flu attack.
Carey High School hosts class B sectional basketball action with multiple tight games. Salem beat Chatfield 34 to 28 in the opener, Lucas edged Bluffton 32 to 30, and St. Wendelin defeated Republic 32 to 27. Friday features four showdowns led by Ada over Holmes Liberty 31 to 20 and Krout's 23 points for Carey in a Butler win.
A 6%4 pound son to Mr and Mrs Lloyd Pfeifer of Galion born at Galion hospital Friday morning. Mrs Pfeifer formerly Miss Forrest Weaver of Carey. An 8%-pound son to Mr and Mrs Kenneth Nye on North street Friday morning named Edwin Dallas. A son born to Mr and Mrs Russell Williams two miles west of town on Saturday. A son born Tuesday morning to Mr and Mrs Franklin Hosterman of Sycamore at Mercy hospital in Tiffin. Hosterman is grandson of Mrs Mary Stroup of East Findlay street.
The third week results show National Lime Stone Co 8123 Firemen 8099 K of C Lodge 7935 Porcelain Products 7873 Eagles Lodge 7791 K of P Lodge 7647. High score weekly prize goes to Everett Laney and C Credhenella of the Eagles team with 780 points.
Last Thursday evening the Pythian Sisters of Carey Temple No 169 were inspected by Naamah Case of Upper Sandusky and given a 97 percent grade. Visitors joined from Sycamore Findlay and Mount Blanchard. Three candidates were initiated. A social evening followed with refreshments provided by the January and February birthday committees.
The Methodist missionary society will meet at Mrs Harry Mapes home on W Findlay Street at 2 o'clock on Wednesday afternoon March 15. Mrs Forest Baker will lead the program, Mrs Virginia Jenkins will review the textbook The American City and the Church, and devotions will be conducted by Miss Bertie Purkey.
Eddie Hans and Ruth Ingels local dancing directors at Paul Spor's Studio chosen by the Dancing Masters of America to teach advanced tap and novelty routines at the World's Fair dancing convention in New York this summer They will teach the week of July 24 at the Hotel Astor in New York.

WPA advises continuation of sidewalk construction in Carey this spring. Property owners wanting sidewalks under the WPA program should contact village clerk Jacob Nitrauer within the next week and provide their lot number street and frontage. This notice also applies to properties where walks were not completed last year.

The fire department was summoned Saturday morning at 140 o'clock to the home of Dr R J Lemons. A hot poker used in firing the furnace ignited an awning stored in the cellar, causing considerable smoke damage confined to the cellar.
