Kiwanis Luncheon Features Riley Talk and Visitors

Arthur McArthur of Traverse City Michigan spoke at the Kiwanis luncheon on My Personal Recollections of James Whitcomb Riley. The talk drew hearty laughs and featured souvenir pictures. Juvenile Court Sentences Platt and Kemerley in Delinquency Case

Curtis Platt and Laura Kemerley of Richland Township were sentenced to three months in Wyandot county jail after pleading guilty to conduct tending to cause delinquency of Kemerley’s minor children. Platt also paid a $100 fine plus costs. Prosecuting Attorney Earl B. Carter supported strict remedies to protect the home and marital relations.

Blanche Luce Guilty in Dope Conspiracy Case

Blanche Luce and James Luce were found guilty by a federal jury of conspiracy to violate the Harrison narcotic act. Thomas Cowell’s case ended in a juror disagreement while Theodore Johnson pleaded guilty earlier. Mrs Luce testified to stealing drugs from Lucas County Hospital and was remanded for sentencing.

Carey Farmers Institute Promises Strong 1924 Program

The Farmers Institute at the high school auditorium in Carey filled six sessions with farming info and entertainment. A project play by home demonstration women and an agricultural and domestic science class production drew appreciative crowds. Officers elected to lead the 1924 institute include President M H Thomas, Vice President J F Baker, Secretary Howard Miller, Treasurer Ralph Haford, and an executive committee.

Farm Bureau Launches Wyandot County Membership Drive

A. R. Weed of the Ohio Farm Bureau Federation publicity department and County Agent J. R Allgger planned the second three year membership drive for Wyandot county farm bureau opening March 20. County manager S. L. Moser of Upper Sandusky outlined arrangements. A solicitors' school is set for March 19 and a house to house canvass on March 20.

An 80-pound son arrived Tuesday to Mr and Mrs Miles Mitten Jr of Clay Street. A daughter born Tuesday night to Mr and Mrs Van Baker of Eastern Heights. A daughter arrived last Thursday forenoon to Mr and Mrs Alvin Beahm. Her birth interrupted Mayor Mullholand's court hearing over a fog related accident in which Beahm's car struck a log load without a signal light.

Illustrated talk on tobacco harms for students

Monday afternoon Mr Finnell delivered an illustrated lecture titled The Evils of Tobacco Using. He explained that tobacco weakens people mentally and physically to an audience of high school and sixth seventh and eighth grade students.

County debates crown two home teams in final round

The final county debates took place Wednesday evening with Nevada and Carey winning their triangles. The negative teams debated at home while the affirmative side spoke there earlier, as six judges awarded the Carey Hi teams the coveted cup.

King Construction opens Findlay office in Rawson block
