European Relief Work Aids War Torn Europe

The Lutheran Church has given a free will offering of 105 dollars for European relief through the National Lutheran Council. The Men’s Brotherhood has collected several hundred pounds of clothing to be sent to New York for shipment to Lutheran representatives in Europe, mainly for Russia. West Side Banquet Honors Losers Of Post Campaign

The west side defeated by a slim margin was toasted by Bert Smith’s team as captain. Harry Dible led the losers at Catholic Hall where about 200 men and boys crowded four long tables for a three course feast. A new campaign starts March 10 with an ice cream and strawberry supper at the park inviting families.

New Track Scales Arrive for A C & Y Depot

Bridge gangs on the A C and Y are unloading a new 50 foot long track scale with a 100 ton capacity to replace the existing scales in front of the depot. The scales are the largest in use on the line.

Death of Mrs Dorothy Hanaway in Toledo

Mrs Dorothy Hanaway died after a two year illness at State Hospital Toledo. Born Carey December 2 1887 she was 35 years 2 months 24 days old. She leaves two sons Harry and Kenneth two brothers F G Harris and G C Harris a sister Mrs Dargin and relatives in Springfield and Sandusky City. Funeral services were held at her parents home on Glenn Ave with Rev L C Reed officiating. Burial followed at Spring Grove cemetery.
