A Wyandot county polio drive set a county record with 3295.95 dollars raised, tripling the previous best. Mrs Harry Pierce slipped on an icy cement sidewalk behind her home on N Vance Street Thursday February 21 at 5 45 PM and fractured her left arm near the wrist. She was taken to a local physician where the bones were set and her arm placed in a cast. She is improving as well as can be expected.

Carey village council authorized bidding for two new trucks one line truck for the electric department with 4 hoist and rigging for poles and a power reel and a dump truck for the street department. Lights Out After Truck Hits White Way Fixture
A freight truck turning from Findlay Street into the alley near the Farm Bureau office pulled a wire and took down the globe and top of the White Way lighting system in front of Pete's Market. Half the White Way lights were out for several days.

In the Toledo Times February 8 a photo shows Annette Buckland beside Tommy Sexton 17 of 2627 Meadowwood drive. Tommy celebrated 40 days free from an iron lung after 18 months of treatment at Maumee Valley hospital and will move to Toledo Crippled Children's home for further care. Buckland, daughter of Graham and Mrs Buckland of S Vance street, is nearing nurse cadet completion at Maumee Valley hospital.

Fire damages basement in Neff residence on Lake Street
Tuesday afternoon around 3 30 fire crews were called to the home of Mr and Mrs Clifford Neff on S Lake Street. A blanket hanging in the basement touched off by a water heater caused heavy smoke but the blaze was put out before the Carey fire department arrived. Damage is estimated at 40 dollars.
