March events noted with junior high chapel by eighth grade students led by Neil Heck and performances by Annabelle Mitchell prone to poetry recitals. Carey high school plans Belle of Barcelona with Melva Weininger and Jack Heck as leads while casting continues.
Pictures for this year's Caryatid were taken by Mr. Montague at the schoolhouse on Tuesday and Wednesday, capturing students and staff wearing formal attire for the year’s display.
Miss Walters misses Monday classes as the high school hosts its annual fair over two days. Corn, cakes, canned fruit, grains, seeds and farm products fill displays in the agriculture and home economics rooms with readings and talks scheduled in the auditorium. Notable speakers include Mr. Andrews on Sand and Ohio roads, Mr. Robinson on swine developments, and Mr. Reed touring the West with Ohio farmers. Mrs. Cooper discusses homemaking. Evening programs start at 8, with afternoon sessions at 2.
In Wyandot county annual event the girls and boys teams compete for county crown. Careys draws in the feat this year were almost miraculous leaving readers to page 8 for continuation.

The Wyandot County Mutual Relief association approved claims for various fire related losses. Items include Anna Krock house destroyed by fire valued at 1000 dollars and M L Anderson trustees of Wadsworth Library house and woodshed damaged by fire at 2010 dollars, plus several meat, radio and auto losses and a fire department service credit of 10.50 dollars.
Twenty seven members and two visitors of the Bucyrus Royal Neigh bor lodge gathered Thursday evening to install the new officers. The ceremony featured a chicken supper and social time after. Installed officers included Oracle Mrs Frank Kinsinger and others across offices with Mrs George Wolfrum Jr and Mrs Laura Belle Buckingham among the managers.
Eunice Ellen Roszman and Harold John Heilman of McCutchenville wed Tuesday at 2 PM at the bride's parents home five miles south of town. Rev J Seim officiated. There were no attendants. The bride wore a blue satin crepe dress and a wedding supper was served to immediate family. The couple will live with the bride's parents for now.
Russell Thom is now authorized agent at the Standard Oil station on FE Findlay street succeeding Everett Hunter. The station remains an authorized Standard Oil Co. service station. Thom will also perform auto repairs and later add ice cream candy cigars and soft drinks to the offerings.
Mr and Mrs Charles Nachbar Mrs Lawrence Nachbar and Mrs Fred Nachbar attended the funeral of James Coulter at Etcyrus. Coulter was 90 years old.
The Red Cross committee will meet this Thursday afternoon at 4730 o'clock at the library.

Sheriff Weatherholtz and deputies seized five men tied to a large chicken theft ring in Wyandot and nearby counties. The suspects, aged 19 to 30, face grand jury action after being arraigned in Carey court. One man was sent to Seneca authorities and another to Fostoria. several others were captured after a chase toward Hardin county.
The Crawford-Ridge farm bureau will meet Wednesday night March 11 at 800. The planned motion picture is postponed to April. Topics include fertilizer and other items. A committee led by Paul P Krupp will organize refreshments and entertainment.
The Big Lick Center Grange invites the public to an open meeting on Thursday evening March 5 at the grange hall two miles west of Alvada. A program of music readings dialogues and other entertainment will be followed by a bean and pie social.
At the regular convocation of Carey Chapter Royal Arch Masons a district lecturer B E Cartmell of Delaware will inspect. Dinner is at 6:00 p.m. and the Royal Arch degree will be conferred.
A new welding plant about three miles south of Carey has bought a portable electric and acetylene welding outfit and is soliciting business in the area.
Charles Alphaus Brown aged 67 9 months 4 days died from a stroke at 3 15 Friday morning while staying with his brother near Carey. He was a lifelong farm resident never married and spent a year in Michigan. Survived by brothers McLeod Brown and Ernest E Brown. Frank H Brown and Mrs Frank Hurd preceded him. Funeral Sunday 2 30 at the brother’s home Rev Strete officiating. Burial Spring Grove Cemetery with pallbearers William Hunter Paul Sammet Ray Hunter Park Walter Lee Wentz Roy Wickiser.

S. W. Mc Chesney, superintendent at a porcelain plant, found a sack with a brick on his Findlay Street walk. The note demanded hiring only Carey people and warned of action under his house if not complied. Police monitor a former plant employee.
Rev W Elmer Bailey 69 longtime pastor of South Main Evangelical church Mansfield died at General Hospital after a short illness. He authored two hymn books of revival songs and served congregations in Canton Columbus Findlay Carey and Cleveland. He was ordained 38 years ago. His widow two daughters and son Rev Park Bailey survive.
Rev Bailey has many friends here after serving this community twice as pastor.
Dr S R Bame service officer of Earl Green Post 344 American Legion offers to aid all veterans in securing loans under the Veterans Loan Act and filing disability claims. Veterans who previously obtained loans should bring their prior adjusted compensation slips from the Veterans Bureau.
Mr and Mrs K H Heck of this place and R 1 Hilty of Philadelphia attended the funeral of their uncle M F E Taylor in Toledo on Monday. Mr Taylor, a frequent visitor to Carey, was a brother in law of Mrs Jacob Hilty who is wintering in California.
Sunday evening a traveling evangelistic singer will be featured at the M E church Mr Hess from Findlay will perform. Congregation members look forward to a real musical feast and everyone is cordially invited to attend.
Mrs. Ida Frances Enoma Shaw died Wednesday afternoon at A C Cantleberry's Glen Ave home where she worked as housekeeper. The death was due to brain concussion after a fall from an open cellar trap while she performed duties alone. Neighbors found her unconscious Tuesday morning. Born February 17 1865 she was 63 years old. Survived by four daughters one son and several siblings. Funeral services set for Memorial Evangelical Church with burial arrangements through Bristol & Kear.
About 92 people gathered Tuesday evening for Earl Green Post, American Legion, with Civil War Veterans Joseph Shane and S. S. Smith among visitors from Tiffin Fostoria Deshler Columbus and Avon Lake. Kiwanis quartet provided music as talks covered Rehabilitation and Child Welfare Membership Service and Meaning of the American Legion. Rev Roger J Turrell and Rev Paul R Clouser gave remarks and refreshments followed. Next meeting set for Tuesday March 17.
The Ridge quartet will sing at the Lenten service at the M E church this evening. A large crowd is expected as Thursday services have been well attended. Services continue for two more weeks until March 29 with daily services through Easter Sunday April 5. Tonight’s service begins promptly at 7 36 with a short sermon by the pastor titled Well Diggers
Miss Mattie Myers reports the birth of twin sons to Mr and Mrs John Hare of Bellefontaine on Monday February 23. The infants are named James Wilford and Thomas Anderson.
The Carew Rod and Gun Club holds a regular meeting this evening with Game Protector C F Blakeman of Tiffin giving a talk. A good attendance is desired.
The P T A meeting has been postponed until March. The Col Crawford building will be dedicated and an historical pageant will be presented.

Police report a burglary at the Henry Orians shop on S Vance street after 11 PM Sunday. Merchandise worth 116 in wholesale value including arctics rubber boots bridles horse collars lines and work shirts were stolen. an auto light was seen in the alley around 2 AM.
Mr and Mrs B E Hudson leave Ranger farm west of town for W Johnson Street Upper Sandusky. Next Monday Mr Hudson becomes county auditor with O A Halbedel continuing as chief deputy Miss Mary Wickiser head bookkeeper and Miss Grace Walton assistant bookkeeper Lloyd Walton will serve as sealer of weights and measures.
The young people's choir will provide music for the Lenten service at 7 30 this evening. Devotional talks on the subject of Prayer are part of a series conducted by the pastor, with services continuing weekly until Easter. The community is invited to attend.
Fred Zweifel of Toledo spoke at the Kiwanis Club meeting on Monday noon on the subject The Inside Workings of an Insurance Company detailing many aspects of the business. Twenty eight members attended.
A early morning fire about 4 30 destroyed a barn silo and machine shed on Mrs Addie Davis's farm east of town. The fire burned the structures and a large amount of farm machinery, awakening Mrs Davis to the blaze. The cause is unknown and damage is extensive.
The official board of Memorial Evangelical Church will meet Friday evening at 77 30. Every member is urged to be present due to the importance of the meeting.
Members of the Pythian Sisters are urged to attend the meeting this Thursday evening to practice for inspection.
