The lyceum program opens with Plantation Singers a male quartet led by Robert Jackson of Kansas City. They perform plantation scenes spirituals and southern melodies with humor and strong close harmony. An evening of varied material promises strong entertainment for students and community members.

Centennial McCormick Reaper Event At Local Carey Farm

Hundreds gathered in Carey for the McCormick reaper centennial celebration at Zender Implement. The program by International Harvester and Zender featured lectures films including The Romance of the Reaper, a replica reaper, and a luncheon for 400 farmers. Speakers included W C Hagedorn, Don Holton, John Taylor, O F Taulker, and W C Demaline.

Attended Funeral for Mrs Warren Stevens

Funeral services for Mrs. Warren Stevens were held at Crawford Church last Wednesday. Attendees included Arthur Stevens of Cleveland Oklahoma Homer Stevens of Garber and Vernon Prindle of Republic Cora Stover and family Wilbur Prindle and Edward Welter of Tiffin Russell Prindle and Russell Prindle plus Gerald Prindle Mollie Wonder and several Prindle relatives. Six grandsons served as pallbearers: Don Stover Wilbur Russell Gerald Prindle Ralph and Clarence Bingle.

Lutheran Lenten Service at Christ Church

Devotional services are held each Thursday during Lent at Christ Lutheran Church at 7 30. The pastor speaks on prayer with different groups providing the choir each week. Brotherhood led singing last week. Queen Esther class leads this week. After devotion, a pastor led class in the Junior room covers Christian faith fundamentals.

Miss Florence Holden of Carey now a Bliss College student in Columbus plays forward for the Bliss basketball team. She is in the shorthand program and belongs to the Bliss Phi Delta Girls' club, staff of the Mirror, and formerly editor of Carey High School's publication.

The funeral for Mrs M J Mitten who died Friday in Tucson Arizona will be held this morning at St Marys Catholic church in Tiffin. Burial will follow in St Marys Cemetery north of Carey.

Stella Mae Bloom Stoody died at her home on West North Street Friday morning after a brief illness. Born January 6 1885 near Carey she married Harry Stoody December 21 1912. A baby girl Joyce Elaine arrived Sunday morning to Mr and Mrs Henry Brown at their Frederick street home. The Greek family near town welcomed a daughter last Thursday morning. Relatives report a son born to Mr and Mrs Harry Rook of Findlay, Mrs Rook formerly Barbara Lytle of Carey.

Findlay Hymn Reward Won By Mrs Smith

Mrs Elia Smith of W Findlay street won a $5 reward offered by Mrs Leonard of E Findlay street for finding the hymn Sacred Spot in an old United Brethren hymnal. The hymnal had been given to Mrs Smith by her uncle John R Mincer who lived south of town and ran the Mincer saw mill. he died in 1884.

Letter From Cuba Supervisor Describes Cane Harvest

Williiam Pontius and wife share a letter from their son Ralph, a supervisor on a large sugar plantation in Herrera Oriente Cuba. He reports 18 tractors across 25 000 acres, days of 10 to 18 hours, two mechanics and four helpers, loading over 100 cars daily with about 28 tons per car, and hopes for dry weather to ease the mud.

William Long 75, son of David and Eliza Long, died Friday at 2 p m in Greenville hospital after a two year illness. Born Sept 2 1855 in Salem township he married Jessie G Gilger Oct 9 1879 and had one son Roy who died in infancy. Altar Reredos Unveiled at Lutheran Church Dedication

A large congregation witnessed the unveiling of the new reredos at the Lutheran church on Sunday afternoon. Rev. Paul R. Clouser delivered the dedication, followed by vesper service and a choir program led by Miss Bernita LeMasters, Miss Catharine Canfield, and Mrs. B. L. Wallace of Marion. The gift came from the choir with brass candlesticks donated by the Wonder Bible class.

Carey firemen held their annual banquet Monday evening at the Knights of Pythias hall with a fine meal, dancing, and card games. Carey Grange Plans Open Meeting With Programs

The Carey Grange will hold an open session at the K of O hall on Vance Street Wednesday March 4 at 8 15 p m The program includes Star Spangled Banner music by Jason Traxler a vocal duet by Mr and Mrs A S Kuenzll a musical reading by Violet Culver a piano solo by Sylvia Hall installation of officers by Mifflin Grange and a drill by Mifflin Young People. The Cleveland News photo feature shows the dirigible Los Angeles and its officers departing Lakehurst New Jersey for Panama. Lieutenant Maurice M Bradley, son of Mr and Mrs W G Bradley, is one of the officers aboard. The Los Angeles is Uncle Sam's largest aircraft sent to engage in war maneuvers with the fleet.

Carey Kiwanis Inter-City Meet in Fostoria

Twenty seven members of the Carey Kiwanis Club traveled to Fostoria on Tuesday evening to join the Fostoria Kiwanis Club at In a Ways cafeteria. The Carey high school orchestra provided music and the program featured G M Kurtz solos and Rev R J Turrell speaking on Hard Thinking for Hard Times. Dr Harding of Bellevue and lieutenant governor of Ohio Kiwanians attended and addressed the group. Howard Snyder presented the treasure chest from Carey to Fostoria and President Shuman of Fostoria Kiwanis closed the gathering with brief remarks.
