Miss Eloise Thrall returned from the Buckeye Press Association meeting in Columbus, where sessions were well attended and many instructive talks given. Journalists enjoyed a Columbus Chamber of Commerce dinner at the Chittenden, with college stunt entertainment and the re election of H C Ramsden of Sycamore as vice president and Thrall as recording secretary.
Mrs. Fred Lasere returned from Columbus with her father Samuel McBeth who recently had his arm amputated at Grant Hospital. McBeth is weak but improving rapidly and friends welcome his homecoming in Carey.
Real estate transfer shows Ned Nye and wife transferring Lot 3 in Ardmore addition Carey to Edward Nye et al for a consideration of $1.00.
Garden seeds are now available at Ewing Drug Co. customers can select vegetable and flower varieties for planting season. The notice highlights new stock and pricing aimed at local gardeners.
In an inter-class basketball tournament at Garey High, the Juniors won first place, followed by the Sophomores, Freshmen, and Seniors. The Juniors beat the Seniors 8 to 6, Sophomores won 22 to 8 over Freshmen, and Juniors defeated Sophomores 14 to 12 to clinch the title. Tomorrow Carey High faces Wharton High at the Carey High auditorium.
Request to the Ohio Experiment Station Wooster will send a spray calendar with formulas timing and directions for applying sprays to practically all kinds of orchard trees. The program was prepared by spraying authorities during the past winter and is now ready for distribution.

Rev Carl V Roop concluded a weekend of Hopewell meetings drawing many to Christ. All day services featured sermons on Heaven and Hell and Back with Beech Grove quartet praised for singing. Miss Searles Brown accompanied Beech Grove on piano. quartet to sing at Brownstown next Sunday in Evangelist Porter’s meeting.
Next Tuesday at 7 30 the Earl Green Post American Legion will initiate 18 new members and present ritual parts. Officers prepare tonight with a social hour and free feed afterward. The Ohio department conducts a confidential census on how veterans use their bonus, with results shared by local posts.
The undersigned H G Chambers is appointed and qualified as receiver in trust for creditors and stockholders of the Hume China Company of Carey Wyandot County Ohio by the Common Pleas Court. Debtors must pay immediately and creditors file claims, with any open contracts written to the receiver by April 3 1922 at 10 o clock am in Carey Ohio.

Final account in the estate of Elmer Parkins was filed and suspended. Dissolution of the Home China appraisals confirmed and sale ordered of real and personal property directed to Assignee Robert A Shger and Miss Tiva G Brown of Upper Sandusky. A marriage ceremony at Rev John R Forrer’s home united Lawrence Machinski of Toledo and Ray D Shoop suit for 35000 damages after a June 6 1921 auto collision in the city. County board of visitors appointed Mrs Hettie Clark and Rev Father John R Forrer as delegates to a welfare conference in Columbus March 8 9 to seek uniform laws for welfare and charity.
Prison chaplain Rev. T O Reed reports that about half of Ohio penitentiary inmates under 15 when they began self support later show illiteracy. Figures show 18 percent cannot read or write, with many educated only to grade school. Warden Thomas calls education a key reform, citing prison schools serving 300 pupils and progress from kindergarten to six grades.
Seven gallons of liquor were dumped into the sewer at the county jail Monday at 1 pm. The alcohol was seized December 17 from an auto on East Johnson Street. Wapakoneta residents W. J. Wehrle and Edwin Seitz faced fines. Wehrle remains jailed, Seitz paid and was released. Wehrle will testify Friday in a case involving Leonard Schnabel charged with selling liquor.
The President addressed a joint session Tuesday, urging a ship subsidy and affirming that a strong merchant marine safeguards the nation. He called for a sociable, friendly, and non jealous stance with neighbors and warned against enemies, noting the merchant marine has much to do in this effort.
Reverend Aloys M. Fish returned Saturday from a trip to Washington where he met President Harding and chatted with Senator Willis. He reported a cordial reception and interest in parish concerns during his visit.
Mrs C M Steen of 400 North Vance Street died suddenly of heart failure after a two week illness with pleurisy and pneumonia. Her 11 year old daughter Evelyn narrowly escaped injury when her dress caught fire from a gas stove. Evelyn was burned slightly but is recovering. Funeral services will be held Friday at 1 30 pm from the Steen home with Rev W F Martin officiating. Burial at Spring Grove cemetery. Survivors include husband C Millard Steen, daughter Evelyn May, son John M, two brothers Leroy Steen and Miles R Wonder, Harvey Wonder, sister Mrs James Cross, and a large circle of friends.
County Agent J R Allgger schedules four pruning demonstrations in March as part of the Farm Bureau program to revive interest in home orchards. Dutton of the State Horticultural Dept will assist. Events include pruning, spraying, fertilizers, and orchard management discussions at four locations and times.
Carey Maroons beat Marion Business College 36 to 16 at the Carey high school gym. They plan a rematch in Marion next Monday and host the Nevada American Legion next Thursday. Nevada Legion beat Marion 16-15 and Marion lost to Carey 19-10 earlier, but Carey now predicts a tougher game against the Legionaires after improvements.
Married in Tiffin on Wednesday February 15 were Roy Sherman of this city and Opal Smith of Fostoria. The groom, son of Mrs. George Sherman, will reside temporarily with Mr. and Mrs. Walter Sherman on North Street and works for the Hocking Valley section.
Mr L R Ashley and Mr R E Oglesbee with children Natella and Donald traveled to Kent Sunday to visit Mr Oglesbee and son Arthur at McKittrick hospital. Arthur is blind and has a ruptured right eardrum. patients expected to go home next Tuesday.
Pupils and patrons of the Shu man school enjoyed an annual dinner on Wednesday noon. The program featured several selections performed by a quartet including Prof. J. B. Moore Carl Mitchell W. J. Baker and J. A. Newcomer. F L Livingston is the teacher.

The Kiwanis Club of Carey Ohio plans a meeting with Mr W O Brennan from the Welfare Department of National Cash Register Co Dayton, guiding members and guests through expectations and initiatives during the session.
Monday noon luncheon March 6 at 11 30 features Mr Brennan a former newspaper man and director of a major Ohio bank. He will discuss Better Business Methods as part of Kiwanis International’s push to establish a correct code of business practice among members.
Members of the Research Club and guests shared a Friday dinner at Mrs. W. H. Snyder’s home. The entertaining committee included Mrs. Snyder and several club members with George Washington themed decorations. Guests included Mr. and Mrs. H. B. Keller and others.
William Morehart 46, brother of Henry Morehart of Vanlue, died in Springfield from erysipelas after a head injury from a wrench two weeks earlier while working on the Ohio Electric track near Springfield. The body goes to Carey for burial at Lee cemetery, four miles southwest of Vanlue. He never married and had lived near Vanlue and Wharton in youth.
Robert Ferrer formerly of Carey wed Florence Bossert daughter of Mr and Mrs Edward Bossert 633 Woodville street Monday. The ceremony was at Rev A L Burman Woodville street with a short wedding trip to follow and plans to reside on Cherry street Toledo. Mr and Mrs Ferrel guests of his mother Mrs Dora Ferrel after the ceremony.
Two sisters-in-law died at their Michigan homes last Thursday. Mrs Gilbert Pennington, formerly of Carey and sister-in-law to R. C. Pennington of this city, is identified among the deceased. On Friday Mrs James Pennington, another sister-in-law, employed Cutchenville residents Mr and Mrs R. C. Pennington to attend her funeral on Monday.
The Herma Paka and Robt. Senny Hawaiian troupe wowed Friday and Saturday audiences with native songs and dances. Their act complemented the regular movie program for a very successful Strand Theatre show.
A Friday blast at the stone quarry rocked several buildings as experts set off about three tons of dynamite in a public demonstration. No injuries reported and authorities investigated the site.
