Word has been received in Carey that H. B. Keller is seriously ill with a severe influenza attack at the Wolfe cataract clinic in Marshalltown Iowa. Mrs Keller and son Edgar rushed to Marshalltown. Mr Keller improved slightly and kept under an oxygen tent while cataract surgery was postponed.

Miss Rickie aged 116 daughter of Mr and Mrs Lee Rickle of 7 miles southwest of Carey suffered a severe hand injury Friday noon at the Swan Swan Char Co plane shop. A roller caught her left hand while she fed material into a brake lining machine and the wrist required amputation. She was taken to Findlay hospital where Dr Koehler performed the operation and she will be confined for two or three weeks. Her father, employed at the Traction Pitcher plant in Findlay, was with her.

Lt William Spackey son of William Spackey of Carey and S/Sgt Rex Huston son of Vernon Huston of FE have completed the required aerial combat missions. Spackey has six assigned and Huston sixty one. Both are on Corsica with Spackey piloting a B 26 Mitchell bomber and Huston serving as a wing bombardier. They are on non combat duty and unlikely to return home soon.
