Automatic weed cutter clears right of way on Big Four
A weed cutter with two long blade arms travels about 12 miles per hour on an open car through Carey on the Big Four. It clears grass and weeds on both sides of a single track, covering roughly 15 miles of right of way daily, including sidings and main lines. The crew comprises a pilot, a motor operator, and two cutters.

The Rev. John Haupert 65 pastor of Sacred Heart church died Monday at St. Vincent's hospital after a relapse following surgery. Caldwell suffers shoulder fracture in wind storm accident
R. W. Caldwell, 82, was injured at his home 30 miles southwest of town during a Wednesday wind storm. The barn door blew shut, trapping him under a wagon and breaking his left shoulder blade. He is recovering and able to be out again.

Hit-skip driver arrested after traffic stop
Policeman Earl Briggs arrested a man who gave the name George Walters of Columbus for driving while intoxicated. He had his 6 year old son and a Toledo couple in the car. They were jailed and later Walters was found wanted by the highway patrol for a hit and run. The patrol took all four occupants to officials Monday morning.
