Findlay’s oldest grocer in point of service, W. C. Kwis, will retire next month ending 63 years of operation at 22393 Main Street. Established by Fred Kwis in 1890, the store passed half interests in 1905 and 1910 to the present proprietor. Retirement of two longtime employees and ill health prompt closure. deliveries cease after July 4 with remaining stock to be sold through July.

Forest man escapes serious injury in train collision
June 22 Edward Gary of route 2 Forest narrowly escaped serious injuries when his car was demolished after being struck by a train at Kirby crossing. He paused for one train to pass then moved ahead and was hit by a second train. Gary was treated at Wockitrick hospital Kenton for cuts and bruises and released.

Mobile Blood Unit to Return in August
The Franklin County American Red Cross chapter plans a two day blood donation visit to Upper Sandusky on August 12 and 13 with Carey as a focus. The unit can process eight donors every 15 minutes, requiring 89 volunteers plus reserves, and times are set for Carey. Volunteers should register at local drug stores between June 25 and August 6, ages 18 to 60, weight at least 120 pounds, and in good health, with parental consent if under 21.
