The D A R picnic will be held Thursday evening at Mrs. T. H. Dromgold’s home on W Findlay street. A Carey Girl Scouts produced program follows at Christ Lutheran Church with Miss Patricia Williams and others performing drills, solos, and a play titled Democracy on the Air.

Carey Moose Lodge Initiation and Banquet in Mansfield

A Carey Moose Lodge delegation and Women of the Moose held an initiation at Mansfield. Sixty four candidates received the second degree. Rebecca Jean Lear, daughter of Mr and Mrs George Lear of Carey, performed novelty dances. Ned Nye, governor of Carey Moose Lodge, was elected East Moose of Central Ohio Legion of the Moose No 63.

Carey woman joins WAVES for service in Detroit

Miss Luella Bland of Carey enlisted in the WAVES in Detroit last Thursday. She expects to be called to active duty around July 1 and may go to Hunter College in New York for six weeks of boot training. She also anticipates yeoman training at a camp in Oklahoma or Iowa.

Buckeye Boys State Attendees Depart for Delaware

James Calmes and Esa Jacob, juniors from Carey High School, left Sunday for ten days in Delaware to attend Buckeye Boys State. The trip is sponsored by Marl Green Post 344 and the Carey Kiwanis Club after the pair passed a history test earning the honor.

Priests to Assist First Solemn High Masses

Three Deacons to Be Ordained at Our Lady of Carey Seminary

Three deacons from Our Lady of Carey Seminary will be ordained priest by Bishop Karl J. Alter on Saturday June 19 in Holy Rosary Cathedral Toledo. The ordinands are Rev Michael Arthur Brown Rev Roger Bartman and Rev George Schroeder from Carey Louisville KY and St Bernard Ohio respectively. A Solemn High Mass for Fr Michael is set for Sunday June 20 at 9 20 AM in Our Lady of Consolation Church Carey with a Cordeliers procession the bridal group and ministers and a Gregorian chant choir. A reception follows in Pilgrim House and 2 30 PM devotions and benediction close the day with Fr Michael giving the first priestly blessing.

Disbarment of Morgan F Kaufman in Pennsylvania Case

Five judges of the US district court in Pennsylvania unanimously disbar a former prominent lawyer, Morgan F Kaufman, for participating in a conspiracy with William Fox and J Warren Davis to obtain a $15 000 loan for the judge. Fox served time for the loan scheme. Kaufman is disbarred from federal practice, while the judge remains in receipt of a $12 000 annual federal pension for life.
