Blood donor drive registrations urged for Upper Sandusky unit

An appeal by the committee seeks volunteers to donate blood for the American Red Cross mobile unit scheduled for August 12 and 13 in Upper Sandusky. Registration is at Harry's and Ewing's drug stores before Friday, August 6. Mary Ellen Calmes to Graduate August Twenty Ninth

Miss Mary Ellen Calmes completed three months of training at Children’s Hospital Columbus and stayed with her parents on E South street this weekend. She will return to St Francis Hospital Columbus for a six week period as a student nurse and is set to graduate with the hospital class on August 29.

Mullholland Promoted to Private First Class at Fort Miles

John H. Mullholland son of Mr and Mrs E W Mullholand of 334 East South Street Carey has been promoted from private to private first class by Fort Miles command. He was inducted October 24 1942 at Fort Hayes Ohio and had worked as a crane operator for National Lime and Stone Co before entering the service.

Army private completes primary flight training at Thunderbird Field

A 1st Lt James R Logsdon son of Mr and Mrs W L Logsdon of south of Carey has completed the Army primary flight training course at Thunderbird Field Arizona. Logsdon, Salem High School graduate, previously served 15 months in the Air Force ground crew before training as a pilot.

Carey High Band Concert Plans at Municipal Building

Carey High School band conducts a Wednesday evening program on July 7 under Donald Parfitt at the municipal building on N. Vincentred. Former members are invited to join in. Girl Recovers From Leg Injury After Bone Graft

Miss Bernadine Nye, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Nye, arrived home Friday from Findlay hospital where she had been for two weeks after an automobile accident. A 4 inch piece of bone was grafted into her left leg from below the knee toward the ankle to repair a break, and she will be unable to walk for several weeks.

81 Men Called for Examination for Armed Forces Draft

A group of 81 Wyandot county men left Upper Sandusky by bus for Ft. Hayes Columbus for final examination before entering the armed forces.
