Their car stalled as water rose, reaching the Bullock home first floor before crews ferried residents to safety. The two occupants spent the night with Earl and Mrs. Bullock and left for Carey Saturday morning after moving their car from floodwaters.

Fractures Wrist in Farm Accident Near Carey

Fatal Suspect Held After Hancock County Woman Murder
Alonzo H. Hunter, 77, is jailed on an open charge after the death of Emma Harriett Barr in Amanda Township Hancock County near Findlay. Coroner Dr. Byron Voorhees ruled exsanguination as the cause and said death occurred Sunday between noon and 2 p.m. Neighbors found Barr’s bruised body inside the Weather-beaten house as Hunter, reportedly intoxicated, led authorities through the scene. Recoveries included whiskey bottles, homemade wine, a bloodied broom shank, and signs of a violent struggle between the couple, both pensioners who had just received checks. Authorities continue questioning Hunter as the investigation proceeds with state troopers and local lawmen examining the porch, beds, and adjoining rooms for further evidence.
