The local JayCees group receives thanks for supporting playground improvements. Three new horizontal bars rise beside the existing parallel bars, marking a successful summer recreation program effort.
To help those who missed earlier lessons a new class starts on Thursday June 219 at 9 00 am. About 80 children have learned to swim in under three weeks and 18 students including Virginia Van Buren Carol Snook Jim Ellis and others passed the intermediate course earning Red Cross certificates.

Henry Irwin Stief of Mt. Clemens Michigan receives a paid tuition scholarship to the University of Michigan to study pre medical sciences. The 17 year old son of Mr and Mrs Willard C Stief of 158 East Wilson Blvd earned a Bausch Lomb science award and many high school honors including National Honor Society membership and multiple musical awards.
Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Dible and daughter Lana Jean will move next week to 405 N. Vance Street, the house recently vacated by Mr. and Mrs. B. C. Meek. The property is owned by Mr. and Mrs. Heart Dible, the couple's parents with whom they have been living.
Marilyn Schmuck and Marianne LaRoche represent the Carey Y Teens at Camp Wildwood run by the Columbus YWCA near Worthington. The group travels from Ohio across the state for a weeklong session starting last Sunday and ending Saturday.
Joe Newhard led the Carey Kiwanis in a June program on the arts of photography aided by a Geo Jones slide projector. The National Association of Photography prepared the slides and text for nationwide public enlightenment. Plans were made for a final work party at the shelter house on July 3 ahead of the July 4 dedication ceremony to present the building to the park board.
Mr. and Mrs. L. B. Offenbacher returned home Saturday from Bellefontaine after June 2 surgery to remove a growth behind the lens of his right eye. He spent 11 days at Mary Rutan hospital and then stayed with their son-in-law and daughter Mr. and Mrs. Charles DeLong for further treatment. Mrs. Offenbacher stayed with him. They were brought home by Mrs. DeLong.
T and Dromgold, president of Peoples Bank Co, announces Calvin Thome has been added to the bank staff and assumed duties Monday morning. He is a recent Miami University Oxford graduate with a bachelor of science in banking and finance.
The Carey Boy's 4-H club will meet Monday July 3 at 8 00 pm in the high school. A Findlay state highway patrol member will speak and show a movie. All members are urged to attend.
A revival begins July 9 at the Church of God located at 377 Frederick Street. Services start at 7 45 p m with evangelist Brother G L Barry of Belpre delivering the messages. Everyone is invited to attend.

The Carey Philharmonic society hosts a picnic at Carey Memorial Park on Friday July 7 at 7 p.m. Attendees should bring a covered dish their own sandwiches and table service followed by a brief business session.
The Woman's Benefit Association will sponsor a bake sale Saturday starting at 10 a m at Dible's Plumbing Shop. Patrons are invited to support the event.

About 160 boys joined Carey Lions on a Cleveland excursion last Thursday to watch the Indians defeat the Yankees. The perfect weather and seven home runs sparked the trip, with many riders from Carey and nearby towns as guests. A lengthy list of registered attendees from Carey and surrounding areas followed. a complete driver roster was not available.
Village plans a short standpipe shutdown around July 4 for painting. Residents are cautioned to prevent air in hot water systems during the interruption. Harry D. Hale Village Manager.
The Philathea Ladies' Bible class of Memorial A. B Sunday school will meet at 8 p m Monday July 8 with Mr and Mrs Truman Young and Mrs John Puchta assisting. Mr Young will conduct the lesson study.

Howard Cleaners will be closed from Monday July 3 through Saturday July 8 as the shop undergoes a brief shutdown. The business plans to reopen with regular hours on the following Monday.
The Baglegs host a weekly event labeled as Americas favorite pastime held every Friday evening, inviting community participation and casual play.

Janis Marie Sawyer, first child of Teleman Sawyer and Mrs Pearl Lake, born at Charleston Naval Base. Mary Ann Starkey, 6 pounds 4 ounces, born June 17 to William and Zella Starkey southeast of Findlay. David William McGill, 6 pounds 4 ounces, born June 17 to Mr and Mrs Mary Ogg of Mt Blanchard and Mr and Mrs Russell McGill of Findlay.
The Carey W C T U met Friday afternoon June 28 with Mrs Harry Stoll leading the theme Consecration. Myrtle Perkins read scripture and Stoll led prayer. The Crusade Dollar fund was completed and sent to state headquarters. An organizational workshop is planned at Dhakeside July 13 to 15 with overnight accommodations for attending W C T U members.
Mrs Frias of Tiffin underwent a major operation at Mercy hospital in Tiffin on Friday. Her children Dan Mary and Janet visited their grandparents Mr and Mrs RS Greek in Bellefontaine. Mrs Frias was formerly Kathryn Black of Carey. Amos Black of Tiffin is on a 10 day vacation at the Greek home.
Mr and Mrs Robert Gibson bought the property at sheriff s sale on June 10 and are remodeling the house to move in when work ends. William Kummerer had been living there.
The W. B. A. changes its meeting location to the Knights of Pythiss-bah. The next regular meeting is scheduled for 8 p m Friday July 14.
The Catholic Ladies of Columbia will hold a meeting on Monday July 3 at 8 p m in the Knights of Columbus hall.
Carey Merchants toppled Bucyrus American Legion 9-7 in the first game as Fabiani and Rettig drove in key runs and Donelson and Ward stole bases. Norman Wenzinger pinch hit and Monty DeAmicis added a late rally as Bucyrus struggled to respond.
