Delegate to National Red Cross Convention

Miss Rosemary Rook daughter of Mr and Mrs Harry Rook attended the national Red Cross convention in Cleveland June 9 to 12 as a Clark county chapter delegate. She is a Wittenberg college student in Springfield and part of the college Red Cross motor corps noted as the only college unit with all veterans of World War II.

Flower Plot Replanted at Carey Municipal Building

The Carey Greenhouse at North and Lake streets replanted the annual flower plot in front of the municipal building last week. Clyde Jenkins, proprietor, does this each year at no cost to Carey. Residents take pride in the building and civic interest.

Death of James Ray Wilson Found at Dayton Veterans Hospital

James Ray Wilson aged 58 was found dead in bed Wednesday at the Dayton veterans hospital where he was employed. Sister Mrs. A. G. Foster of Crawford attended. Funeral services were held Friday in the Foster funeral home at Spencer, and Mrs. Foster departed Wednesday for Spencer.

Carey Teens Attend Buckeye Boys State Program

Horace Newhard Jack Green and Jerry Risner of Carey high school travel to Ohio Wesleyan University Delaware for a 10 day Buckeye Boys State program sponsored by local American Legion post 344 Carey Lions and Kiwanis. They join 31 counselors and 15 cities across three counties in a mock government with elections offices and final amateur show. Wyandot County Red Cross to Hold 30th Anniversary Meeting

The Wyandot county chapter of the American Red Cross will hold its annual public meeting in Woodshall Upper Sandusky on Friday June 27 at 8 p.m. Attendees include board members and past year fundraising workers. Jr Red Cross delegates will present highlights from the Cleveland national convention. Refreshments will be served. This marks the chapter’s 30th anniversary since its charter was granted June 8 1917.

Mr and Mrs Arthur Rader sold Cal's Market on N Vance street to Harry Foltz of Findlay. Foltz took possession Friday. The sale was arranged by John Risner, a real estate broker. Risner also purchased Walter Updegraff's 7 room house on E North street.

Patrick Completes Basic Training At Fort Lewis

Pvt. Richard W. Patrick of Vanlue Ohio has completed basic training and will join occupation troops overseas. He was 18 on February 18 1947 and entered the army three days later. Patrick qualified as sharpshooter and took part in ROTC athletics at the camp. He is the son of Mr and Mrs Russell Patrick northwest of Vanlue.

At the June 16 meeting the council gave first reading to Ordinance No. 365 amending sewer rates. The new schedule lists charges for residences, apartments, hotels, churches, stores, offices, garages, schools, factories, seminary, packing houses, and various facilities. Carey splits twin bill with Sandusky

Carey journeyed to Sandusky for a Sunday double header. Newell started the first game with De Amicis behind the plate and allowed seven infield hits but poor fielding led to five errors. Carey had three hits Nash De Amicis and Donelson. In the second game Nash started for Carey with De Amicis again behind the plate. Carey won 5 to 4 on a late rally as Nash allowed only three singles with 13 strikeouts and one walk. Carey to play Marseilles next Sunday at Swan Field with 1 30 p m start time and urged strong fan support.
