The Legion announced July 9 to 12 events with a parade and queen crowning on Thursday July 10. Publicity manager Bill Howard urged clubs and organizations to enter floats for the parade, naming candidates Joyce Baker Tonya Bland and Joan Clay among others.
Carey Board of Education approved 1969-70 uniforms for majorettes and the marching band summer uniform. New band director Anthony Alessandrini joins. Summer instrumental lessons shift to noon starting July 7. several staff resignations and new hires noted. Attendance policy and revenue discussions scheduled, with contracts issued for cafeteria and clerical staff.
Janice Picklesimer daughter of Mr and Mrs Everett Picklesimer Route 1 Carey was installed as Worthy Advisor of the Carey Chapter Rainbow Girls. Jean Picklesimer assisted as installing officer with a large slate of officers and a later float entry planned for Carey Homecoming in July. The event featured Italian Restaurant decor and an Alaska North Pole theme for the afterglow.
Mrs. George Epley of W Brown Avenue hosted the Union of Past Presidents of the North American Benefit Association in Findlay and Carey on Tuesday evening June 10. Eight members and four guests attended. after a business meeting a social hour followed with games and prizes. Refreshments were served by the hostess. Next meeting planned at Mrs. Sofia Fisher's Findlay home.
Eugene Myers, one of 1620 graduates from Bowling Green State University, earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Education on Saturday June 14 at 10 a.m. Brief addresses were delivered by Bob Hope Cyrus Vance Cyrus Eaton Sr. and Vernon Alden who received honorary degrees. Attending for Eugene were his parents and relatives from Carey Upper Sandusky Sandusky and nearby towns.
Carey Kiwanis Club heard Sgt. Hague of the Marion Ohio State Patrol discuss alcohol’s role in fatal crashes. He cited 55 percent of last year’s fatalities linked to drinking and argued Ohio laws on drunk driving are insufficient. Wyandot County now falls under the Marion patrol district.
Mr and Mrs Lloyd Lessig were honored guests at a surprise party in their home on June 15. The event marked their 45th wedding anniversary on June 14. Attendees included numerous Lessig relatives and friends from Upper Sandusky and Mansfield, while some could not attend.

His practice offers complete chiropractic care and he is affiliated with the Masonic Lodge Peace Lutheran Church National College Alumni Association Parker Chiropractic Research Foundation American Chiropractic Association and the District 7 Chiropractic Association.
Ohio Print Publications announces a new Forest newspaper named the Forest Record edited and managed by Daniel Kidd of Kalida. The paper serves Forest and nearby communities Dun kir k Wharton Mount Blanchard Kirby Patterson Marseilles Dola Williamstown and Grant with first edition set for June 19.
Past Masters of Carey Lodge 420 F and A M conferred the Master Mason Degree on one candidate George W Snyder Honorary 33rd filled the Masters Chair.
Walter Zuchowski Jr. of St. Louis, the son in law of the J. W. Wisners, was seriously injured in a Memorial Day automobile accident near Findlay Street. A tire blowout caused both men to be thrown from the convertible. Zuchowski suffered multiple injuries including broken vertebrae ribs and a lung contusion.
Two people were injured at 6 10 p m June 12 in a crash between a motorcycle and an auto on N Walpole Street at the intersection with W Walker Street in Upper Sandusky.
This past week Carey Shuf fleboarders held two tournaments with Crowe and Donelson first on Tuesday over Denver Donelson Steen and Schoenberger Metz. Friday Schoenberger Hoeps top team over Donelson Smith. Consolation saw Yentzers beat Steen Orians. Lifesaving and swimming lessons announced with June sessions and a separate collision report on Walpole and Walker Streets. Knepper cited for failure to yield at a stop sign.

Stan P Silverstien a 17 year old Findlay student was elected governor of the mythical Boys State at the Athens Ohio ceremony Sunday June 15 He won as the Nationalist ticket candidate defeating Wayne Feinstein 824 to 497 in a field of nearly 1 000 candidates for 454 offices The election marks the first Findlay Hancock County resident to hold the post His parents are Ma and Max Silverstien of Findlay Max runs Silverstien Parts Co Carey
Harold R. Franklin of Carey was elected and installed as Illustrious Master of Upper Sandusky No. 98 Royal and Select Masters in Ohio on June 10 1969 at the Masonic Temple. He is a Chesapeake and Ohio Railroad car inspector and holds multiple Masonic offices with several companions assisting in the installation.
