Village Administrator Mabey resigns to lead Carey Plastics
Carey Village Council accepts the resignation of Village Administrator Charles Mabey effective July 20. Mabey will become plant manager of Carey Plastics after his tenure, continuing his community development efforts with the Carey Community Development Corporation. Mayor Peiffer and council plan to file an objection to a zoning reclassification that could raise local fire equipment costs. Sergeant James A. Brown, from Carey, is cited for unit proficiency with the SR-71 program at Beale AFB California.

Fire destroys rural house and shed near Carey
A one story home and shed were destroyed by fire shortly before 11:42 a.m. on June 21 on Maple Avenue near the railroad tracks. Firemen from Carey responded. cause suspected as an electrical short one mile north of Carey on U S 23. A grass fire was reported nearby. Nominating petitions for the Carey Exempted Village Board of Education are due by August 5 with three seats open on the November ballot.

Man Injured in Car Motorcycle Crash in Carey
Robert Welly of Carey was treated for leg injuries after a collision at Findlay and Lake Streets at 12:35 p.m. June 20 when his 66 Honda motorcycle turned into the path of a 67 Pontiac driven by Woodrow Wilson. The Pontiac sustained 75 dollars in damage while the motorcycle totaled 50. Welly was cited for failure to yield. John Billock Jr. of Carey reported a private property collision June 21 at 8:45 p.m. involving a 1969 GMC truck and a building, with 175 dollars in damages.
