William Sloman 90 Dies in Home in June
William H. Sloman, 90, of 233 E South Street, died of a heart attack about 10 p.m. Sunday June 8. Born February 12, 1879 in Seneca County, he was a retired National Lime and Stone Company employee and a member of Christ Lutheran Church. Surviving: son Virgil Findlay. daughters Velma Pointer and Alma Rogers. 14 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Services Thursday June 12 at 2 p.m. in Goff Funeral Home. burial Pleasant View Cemetery, Sycamore. Friends may call after 2 p.m. Wednesday.

The Carey Senior Girl Scout Troop traveled on the C and O train named the Sportsman on Tuesday July 1 1910 en route to Greenfield Village Dearborn Michigan. They spent the night in a village dormitory with nominal fees and were chaperoned by teachers Mrs Richard Kurtz Miss Rolson Feasel and Mrs James Lindsay. The group arrived on a bright Tuesday morning and left with good spirits after a prompt assembly.

Minor two car crash on N Patterson Street
At 11 p.m. on June 8 a minor collision occurred on N Patterson Street. Charles Stevenson of Melvindale and Maurice Ritchey of Fosteria were in the cars. Stevenson said his car coasted forward after stretching his arms and struck Ritchey’s Rambler. Damages were about $40. No citation was issued.
