Wyandot County Tour Planned to Olio Station

Wyandot county residents are invited to tour the Olio agricultural experiment station in Wooster on June 21. The event offers farmers a chance to observe and hear about ongoing research. Two meeting points are Harrison Smith Park near Upper Sandusky and the Nevada school yard in Nevada.

Highway equipment damaged by fire at Ohio firm

A gasoline line broke last Thursday causing a fire that damaged a blacktop spreader owned by the Ohio Engineering Co. The Carey fire department responded to Findlay Street and extinguished the blaze. The spreader has been repaired and is back in service.

Judy Dible Heads to Buckeye Girls State in Columbus

Judy Dible daughter of Mr and Mrs J F Dible will travel Sunday to Capital University Columbus to take part in Buckeye Girls State. Sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary Ohio department this marks the third year of the program which gathers 420 high school juniors from public private and parochial schools to learn government and leadership in a simulated state setup.

Cars Collide Near Lutheran Church Damages Reported

Dale Frazier's station wagon collided with an eastbound truck and a Chevrolet sedan on W Findlay Street after noon Wednesday. The impact pushed the wagon into the sedan, sending the latter onto the north curb in front of the Ehrhart home. Front ends of all three vehicles were damaged. the Chevrolet driver was from out of town.

Carey Kiwanis Club Plans Shelter Work and trip

The Carey Kiwanis Club held a regular meeting to discuss Memorial Park shelter house completion. A work meeting is set for Friday June 17 at 5 pm to start the floor and raise sides and columns while awaiting roof replacement. The club will visit Fostoria June 12 19 to present the traveling gavel.

McDowell Suffered Cerebral Hemorrhage Paralyzing Arm

R McDowell of 203 S Patterson street suffered a cerebral hemorrhage Friday afternoon that has paralyzed his right arm and hand. He was reported resting more easily Wednesday morning. On June 22, 1948, Mr McDowell had a stroke affecting his left side temporarily.

The Cub Scouts plan a pack picnic for members and parents Friday at 6 p.m. in Waterworks Park. They are collecting boxtops from Duz and Ivory Flakes and wrappers from Camay soap for money, with one cent per boxtop and half a cent per wrapper, donations due before July 30. 80th Birthday Celebration for Mr Gibson

Mr and Mrs Orson Gibson hosted an all day 80th birthday celebration drawing nearly 400 guests. Stein's Dutch band from Tiffin and a Toledo orchestra provided music. Guests danced, lights decorated the yard, and a cradle from 80 years ago drew attention. Off Street Parking Law Signed by Governor in 1949

Ohio Governor Lawsche signed Off-Street Parking HB No 234 on May 12 making it effective August 12 1949. The measure grants municipalities the right of eminent domain to acquire land for off street parking and allows use of surplus funds to issue bonds or mortgage revenue bonds under the uniform bond act.

Funeral for Staff Sergeant John Axline in Carey

The body of T/4 John R Axline 26 arrived from Toledo and funeral services are set for Friday at 2:30 pm at Bristol funeral home. Rev Rob Fast will officiate with burial in Zion Bloom cemetery. He died May 3 1945 near Jensbke Germany on guard duty after a German bullet. He married Maxine Haynes in 1943 and survived by wife parents six siblings and a host of friends. Military honors will be led by Ralph Pieracini American Legion.

George Corron Jr RW 18906 F 517 West Street Carey completes a 30 week residential refrigeration and air conditioning course and a 12 week advanced drafting and field engineering course at the Industrial Training Institute Chicago. He served as a navigator in the air force during World War II and his qualifications suggest strong future potential for employers in this field.
