Laura Nye Herndon, born 1857, had two sons, Laurence and Frederick, and lived in Carey long before later moving to New York City. Jesse L Herndon dies Sunday. both burials held in Spring Grove cemetery with local pallbearers.

The Carey school band sponsors a trip on the Chippewa to Detroit on Tuesday July 11 during the Lake Erie regatta week. The voyage will pass along the racing course from Put-In Bay to Detroit with hundreds of boats visible. Right Arm Broken In Two-Vehicle Crash Near Carey
Sunday morning at about 9 15 Rev W R Shisler sustained a broken right arm when his Ford sedan overturned in a ditch west of town. The Phillips car struck Shisler from the south causing the crash. Phillips and his wife escaped injury though their car was damaged. Shisler was taken to Carey for treatment and will be on four weeks vacation. Rev L C Hoover of Upper Sandusky will cover pastoral duties during his absence.

Murdered Man Unidentified After Street Shootout
A man known as the Big Dub died from gunfire on N Vance street after a confrontation with two hoboes Timothy Ryne and Robert Hartman. Marshal O Connor pursued trio across AC Y tracks as bullets endangered bystanders near children playing. Ryne and Hartman were captured and jailed within hours while the unidentified victim’s identity remained unclear.
