Kiwanis Event in Galion Stages Evening of Music and Drama

Kiwanians visit Galion for the fourth division annual meeting with a threes course dinner and an evening program in the high school gym. Carl Lenz orchestra selections wowed, Marion club offered a music and entertainment program, and a one act play The Valiant was staged by the Galion Drama Workshop Players. Carey club earned the only 100 percent attendance prize, a Kiwanis banner presented to Rev. Paul R. Clouser.

Rebekah Convention Set For Carey Next Tuesday

The 21st district Rebekah lodge annual convention will take place at the Moose hall in Carey with lodges from Kenton Wharton Dunkirk Ada Forest and Carey represented. Palm Leaf Lodge Carey will confer a degree on a local candidate during the evening session. Afternoon business begins 1 30 and evening at 8 with officers led by President Mrs Lloyd Long and Vice President Mrs Virginia Fleming.

Carey School Band Delights With Street Concert

The Carey school band led by H. R. Hutchinson gave a fine concert on the street last evening. Their playing has improved since last summer and Carey may well be proud of the organization.

A school program lists songs performed by the band under the supervision of Mr. G. J. Kennath of Ottawa and Miss Mary Jane Myers. Selections include Old Black Joe America the Beautiful and Star Spangled Banner as part of a reading and music event.

Ruth Diller Weds Alfred Davis in Home Ceremony

Miss Ruth Diller married Alfred Davis at the Diller home on East Findlay Street with Rev. A. C. Rainsberger officiating in a single ring ceremony. The couple plans a Chicago World's Fair trip and will reside at 363 H Findlay Street. Davis, a Carey High School and Ohio State alum, runs the Davis Duck Farm hatchery. Diller, Carey High alumna, studied at Heidelberg and Ohio Wesleyan, with a teaching background.

Boy Scout Investiture at American Legion Hall

At the American Legion hall on Tuesday evening, eight members of Boy Scout Troop 29 were invested with the Tenderfoot Rank. Earl Green Post received a charter from Arthur S. Brooks of Marion as the Marion Harding Area Scout executive. The troop committee led by Dr. S. R. Bame and including H. C. Rook, Dr. W. N. Johnson, Robert O'Connor, George Remlinger, and L. G. Altwater, received certificates. Seven scouts Robert Williams, Thomas Krom, Robert Tong, Eugene Wagner, Ira Myers, Robert Hayman, Chester England, and Wellington Baker earned the Tenderfoot Rank and badges. Scoutmaster Earl Briggs and assistants Free Scourse and Earl Bame were noted. A social hour followed with refreshments.

New Gas Well Shot Near Town Yields Gas Flow

A gas well on the G. B. Johnson farm five miles northeast of town was shot Monday and produced a daily flow of 185 000 cubic feet. The well was drilled by Irvin Waltermire of Fo storia for a Michigan company.

Opening New Implement Store in Carey

Carey will host a new implement store with Laird Rickle renting space in the Burson block on Vance Street. Rickle, a former Carey boy, brings six years with John Deere Plow Co. and plans a general farmer's supply store to serve area farmers.

Wyandot County Sets Four Vet Enrollment Quota

Wyandot county fixes a four member quota for veterans in the civilian conservation corps. Seven percent will come from pre World War veterans, the rest from World War veterans. Applicants must be unemployed. Selections begin with on hand applications June 12, per a Cleveland Veterans Administration bulletin. War Department enrollment to start June 26.

Miller twins to lead first priest Mass in Carey church
