First Mass by Rev Fr Orians at Shrine of Consolation

The Rev. Roderick Orians OMC celebrated his first Solemn High Mass at the Shrine of Our Lady of Consolation on Sunday June 7 with Rev. Paul Vollrath as Archpriest and sermon giver. The ceremony included Deacon Rev Giles Berthalume and Subdeacon Rev Wenceslaus Hertvik with Cyprian Terwoord assisting as Master of Ceremonies. Navy choir led the hymnody before a large crowd.

Three Millionth Ford V-8 Passes Through Carey

The three millionth Ford V-8 traveled through Carey on its way to the Texas Centennial in Dallas. A six-vehicle escort, including representatives from Orwick Motor Sales and a sound truck from Ellis Martin, met the caravan at Carey’s north edge. Mayor C. Hunter joined the procession to Upper Sandusky.

G M Kurtz served as guest soloist on the annual public program at the First English Lutheran church in Upper Sandusky. Mrs. Paul Powell provided piano accompaniment for Kurtz during the event Monday evening.

Carey Safety Week Highlights Weekend Campaign

Safety Week opened in Carey with church reminders about a safety campaign. Police and state patrol checked over 800 cars, issuing 100 corrections. A large mass meeting at the high school will feature speakers from Columbus and Findlay along with a safety film and traffic safety talks.

Veritas Study Club Concludes Season Discussion on Matrimony

The Veritas Study Club met at Miss Catharine Riester's home Tuesday evening. Miss Lucille Derr presented a concluding paper on The Sacrament of Matrimony. Lutheran pastor to speak at Christ Lutheran Church service

Rev Robert J Wolf of Philadelphia will preach at Christ Lutheran Church Sunday. He is interim secretary of the Luther League and will speak at the Ohio Synod Luther League convention in Shelby this week. The Little Women club held a Quick Get Up Off and On meeting on the lawn at Betty Lee Haines home on Findlay Street. Bonus bonds will be mailed from Cleveland on Monday June 15 and likely arrive in Carey that day. City carriers will deliver bonds in the city late Monday and rural routes Tuesday if they arrive Monday or Tuesday morning. Last Friday and Saturday Carey F F A members competed in Columbus representing the chapter in Dairy Cattle Agricultural Engineering Poultry Cream General Livestock and Milk contests.
