Carey innovator Howard D. Beck received patent 3 507 474 for an open top mold that embeds a lengthwise reinforcing rod during casting. The method uses paired holes and removable support rods to position the rod, then withdraws supports and inverts the mold to finish the reinforced block with minimal surface marks. Rights to the patent are unassigned.
