Multi Car Accidents Reported This Week In Carey

Several crashes injure vehicles and damage property in Carey and Findlay Streets this week. Michael Feasel backed a 67 Olds into a trailer at the Citgo Station. damages $50. Hershel High backed a 69 International into a pole, with $200 pole damage and $100 to a 69 Pontiac. A 62 Ford driven by Robert Myers struck Arba Row Jr.’s car, causing a three-vehicle crash. Myers cited for reckless operation. A later crash at Vance and Findlay involved three cars including a 68 Chevy and two Chevys. investigation ongoing.

Mayor Court Filings Include Multiple Assault and Battery Cases

Milton Craft of Upper Sandusky faces assault and battery with $5 and costs, $20 suspended on good behavior. Jerry Lee Smith of Carey charged with assault and battery with $50 bond posted. Ray Sternfield of Alvada cited for speed with $25 bond. Mary Moran of Carey fined $10 and costs for stop sign. Larry Fry of Findlay fined $25 and costs for red light. John Landoll of Carey cited for speed with $10 and costs. Merced Delacruz of Findlay charged for parking in intersection with $25 and costs.

Lifesaving Courses Start Soon For Seniors And Juniors

Senior Lifesaving begins Monday June 22 at 11 00 for those 15 or older or have completed ninth grade. Classes run Mondays and Wednesdays 11 00 to 12 30. Junior Lifesaving starts Tuesday June 23 at 11 00 for ages 11 to 14 or who completed fifth grade. Classes meet Tuesdays and Thursdays 11 00 to 12 30. Contact the pool for details.

Vandalism hits Lutheran Ridge Cemetery west of Carey

Ninety five tombstones were upset and destroyed at Lutheran Ridge Cemetery on Sunnyside Road. Vandalism has occurred before but this incident is the worst yet. Alcohol cans were scattered among the lots. Wyandot County Sheriff’s Department is investigating.

Fires Along RR Reported Near Carey and Brown Road

Carey firemen extinguished a burning tool shed along the AC & Y railroad tracks east of Carey at 5 45 p m. Fifteen men answered the call. At 6 57 p m June 9 volunteers were called to Brown Road to control a grass fire along the railroad tracks.

Wool judging teams win top spots in state contest

Upper Sandusky and Carey high schools led the 47th annual state vocational agriculture judging contest in Columbus with teams finishing first and third. Individual honors went to Jim Wa of Upper Sandusky and Kevin Orians of Carey in wool judging, while Steve Bolton of Lincolnview and Rodney Huffman of Arcadia earned high marks in agricultural mechanics.

Grace Methodist societies plan organizational meeting

The Grace Methodist and Wesleyan Service Guilds of the Findlay District United Methodist Church will meet at Grace Church Carey for an organizational session on a Sunday in 1970. Rev. Dr. M J Miller will preside and lead officer elections with roll call, 2:00 p m registration, 2:30 program, followed by a fellowship tea.

Carey Exempted Village Board hires teachers and staff

At a Monday general session the Carey Exempted Village Board of Education approved new professional hires including Charles Wegner as head basketball coach and sixth grade arithmetic teacher, Sharon Wegner in Business and Office Education, and Dinda McNett and others. The board also approved resignations, adjusted salaries, installed a Class of 1970 drinking fountain, and reviewed a Wyandot County visiting scholar plan.

Joy Williams Installed as Worthy Advisor

Joy Williams daughter of Mr and Mrs Fre jams was installed as Worthy Advisor of the Order of the Rainbow for Girls Assembly No 151 at the Carey Masonic Temple on May 27. The ceremony was led by Missy Wenner with several installing officers and appointees named including Cheryl Risner Mindy Mapes Kathy Williams and Cheryl Buckland. The benediction was given by Rev Paul W Miller of Christ Lutheran Church and Joy chose the daisy as her flower with yellow and green colors.

Carey Village Council Hears Water Sewer Contract Proposals

Carey village council in a lengthy session discussed Carey Enterprises contract to pay 15000 for water and sewer mains at the Duralastics site with approval but further talks planned. Other matters included zoning ordinance 665 second reading, curfew whistle issue, and hires to fire department.

Passenger Hurt In One Car Collision

An accident on county road 16 near Carey at 11 30 am Wednesday June 10 involved Jerry Bader 16 of Fostoria driving left into a ditch and striking a power pole. Passenger Bob Marugg 16 of Carey was treated at Wyandot Memorial Hospital for knee and forehead cuts. Bader cited for failure to drive on the right half.

Our Town Flower Show Theme Presented at Grace Church

Carey Garden Club staged the Our Home Town flower show at Grace Methodist Church with open judging by Mrs. Harry Witte. Edil Robison won outstanding arrangement for The Pastor and best of show with orange blossom and syringa. Tewell led horticulture with 46 points. Robison led in arrangements with 25 points. 12 club members and 10 visitors produced 63 arrangements, 79 specimens, and 16 plants in classes 1 through 15 including The Baker The Doctor The Grocer and The Pastor.
