Buckeye Boys State Set to Open at Ohio University

American Legion Buckeye Boys State announces a June 18 opening at Ohio University in Athens for a nine day practical government program. Carey Shuffleboard Opens Season with Memorial Day Dinner

The Carey Shuffleboard Club kicked off the 1970 season with a Memorial Day supper at Shelterhouse in Memorial Park at 6 p.m. The Arch Donelson tournament follows. Results crowned Hurd Redvers and Dennis Favel champions, with Clarence Reinhart and Denver Donelson as consolations. Tina Lindsay will graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Education from Ohio Northern University at the 10 30 a m Sunday ceremony. Daughter of James and Mrs Lindsay of Carey Ohio she participated in Zeta Tau Alpha Ohio Student Music Educators Association and college music groups. After graduation she plans to teach elementary music in the Upper Sandusky school system.

Carey firemen answered a call at 8 09 p m on May 31 discovered a shed on Earl Walters property Grace Chapel Road had been put under control on arrival the fire was quickly extinguished by local responders.

Summer Reading Club Starts at Dorcas Carey Library

The Dorcas Carey Library hosts a summer reading program for children from first grade through seventh grade with an exploration and travel theme. Registration runs June 1–5, reporting begins June 8, and requirements must be met by July 31 followed by an awards party. New Riegel Soldier Killed in Cambodian Campaign

DeMolay Ohio Star Award Honors Carey Chapter Achievements

The Ohio State Council of DeMolay awarded Carey Chapter at a Columbus ceremony on May 28 196? for leading states in both the DeMolay RD program and membership. Carey received the state ship trophy for highest quota attainment and the Regional Plaque for leading in Wisconsin Michigan Illinois Indiana. Craig Tu was chosen to accept the state membership trophy while Jobin Sparks earned a fifty dollar bond for his RD Award. Chapter advisor Carl Tybell accepted a plaque for the greatest number of RD Awards in 1969.
