Carey Teachers Honor Wealthy Wentling After 46 Years

The Carey Public Schools Elementary Teachers group honors Miss Wealtha Wentling retiring after 46 years. She received a maple rocker with her name and a plaque. Fellow retiree Mrs Ruby Kanzig also recognized at the June events with school officials and staff in attendance.

Eileen House Named Carey Queen Candidate

At a May 29 Carey Volunteer Firemen meeting Eileen House was chosen as Carey representative for the Northwestern Volunteer Firemen’s Convention in Port Clinton June 16 and 17. She is a 1967 Carey High School graduate and daughter of Edward and Mrs. House. The Queens Parade is set for 6 pm June 16 with the Grand Parade at 1 30 pm June 17.

Easy Jim Set for Buckeye State Pace at Ohio State Fair

Easy Jim a two year old pacer owned by Dale Myers Carey is among eligibles for final pre starting fee payments to maintain eligibility for the Buckeye State pace at the Ohio State Fair harness program Aug 28 30. Mrs Carter Kauble is at home in Wharton after a 13 day stay at Grant Hospital Colum bus for surgery preparation. She was a patient in hospital for preoperative work prior to a planned operation.

Reading Project Starts June 12

The Carey Remedical Reading Project begins Monday June 12 1967 and runs through July 14 1967. Classes meet 9:00 to 12:00 with a free warm lunch. Children selected by teacher referral ride busses from rural areas. transportation provided.

Methodist Mother-Daughter Banquet Draws Fifty Guests

Approximately 90 persons attended the Methodist Mother-Daughter Banquet at the church Monday evening. Circle IV organized the event with food led by Mrs Don Lanning and Mrs Robert Creeger. Rev. John Elwood gave a vocation, followed by a buffet. Ann Drumel of Columbia Gas spoke with slides about Land of Enchantment Ohio. Buckeye key chains were given to attendees.

Carey High School graduate Dan Holden performed a modern Edward Grieg piece and harmonica organ duet, joined by Gary Stuart a ventriloquist from Ohio Northern University. Betsy and Paul Jackson provided folk songs while a junior ensemble showcased talent. The Laird Room featured nautical decor and treasure table favors as buffets and films closed the festive night.

Arch Donelson Shuffleboard Tournament Highlights and Honors

The 4th Annual Arch Donelson Tournament took place June 2–4 at Carey Memorial Park with opening ceremonies, a flag-raising by Girl Scouts, and prayers from Rev. Cressman. Carey Schools Summer Programs Start Dates and Times

Three summer programs begin June 12 at Carey Exempted Village Schools. The Title I Reading Program starts at 9 00 am in the Col Crawford Building. Driver Training begins at 8 00 am in the Vocational Agriculture Room at Carey High School. The Summer Speech Program by the Crippled Children’s Society meets at 1 60 in the clinic above the Superintendent’s Office.
