Queen Candidates Introduced at Namecoming Event

Miss Lana Dible daughter of Mr and Mrs Herbert Dible of 405 North Vance St appears with two brothers and a sister. She aims to study at the Automaticifs Career Institute to learn IBM key punch operations. Miss Cassandra Wenner daughter of Dr and Mrs H R Wenner of 312 W Findlay St plans to major in elementary education at Findlay College in the fall.

On Sunday June 4 1967 the Our Lady of Consolation School eighth graders will graduate at the 10 oclock high mass. After Mass they will receive diplomas join the Confraternity and receive a pastor Father Hubert blessing. Our Lady of Consolation held a recognition afternoon awarding Outstanding Student of the Year to Thomas Snowberger and Thomas Kitzler, with first and second year varsity and reserve awards to eighth and seventh graders. Community leaders praised the students and coaches for academic and athletic achievement and leadership.

Carey Residents Incur Head Lacerations In Two Weekday Crashes

Two Carey area traffic incidents occurred this week. Ronald R. Brown and Joyce A. Brown, both from Carey, were treated at Blanchard Valley Hospital after a head injury in a crash on Wiyandot County Road 116. Brown was cited for failure to yield. A second collision near Crawford involving Margaret Picklesimer and David Norris caused minor damages. Picklesimer was cited for failure to yield as well.

Garden Club Helps With Beautification Program in Ohio

Carey Garden Club Region 7 members participate in a Civic Beautification program sponsored by the Ohio Association of Garden Clubs. The project adds attractive features to the Peoples Bank front with springs tuberous begonias and vines. They also oversee the garden display at the Post Office. Last year Region 7 won third place.

Carey High Holds Its First Graduation Ceremony

Carey High School celebrated its first graduation Friday night with Patrick A. Klein chosen to give the class speech titled The American Dream. Five boys earned straight A’s in a notable top ten including Tom Tucker and David Powell. State Senator Oliver Ocasek urged humane progress and cited the per pupil cost of Ohio education while stressing education as a passport to a productive life.

Meeks Marathon Adds 4 by 26 Foot Extension

Construction finished this week on a 4 by 26 addition at Meek's Marathon Service on East Find lay Street. The back was lengthened 4 feet for extra work and storage space with general construction by Howard and Charles Boyce. Vaughn Fleece Electric did wiring and John Undergraff managed the excavation.

PFC Ralph Eaenle Wounded in Vietnam Battle

Mr and Mrs Lawrence Maenle of Carey receive notice that Pfc Ralph Maenle USMC was wounded May 15 near Quang Tri Vietnam by a mortar fragment to the left arm. He was treated in the field and returned to duty with good prognosis. His mailing address remains the same.

Garey Shuffleboard Club Opens Season with Potluck

The Garey Shuffleboards Club started the season with a potluck supper and a tournament for 42 members. President Lee Callahan announced the Arch Donelson Metal Tournament set for June 2 to 4 and weekly events on Tuesdays and Fridays. Harold Shiley directed a tournament despite cool weather. top bracket winners were Lee Yentzer and Bill Crow, with Harold Shiley and Wesley Wonder as runners up.

King and Queen Contest Underway Sponsored by Beta Psi

The Junior King and Queen contest runs June 1 to June 30 with 20 entrants, 10 boys and 10 girls. Voters place pennies in a child’s container. one cent equals one vote. Winners wear robes, hold scepters, and six children receive prizes while runners up are named. Proceeds go to community charity projects.

Bicycle rodeo by Girl Scouts at Memorial Park

Three Junior Girl Scouts plan a bicycle safety rodeo at Memorial Park next Sunday at 1 pm. They will navigate an obstacle course to test brakes balance control and signaling. Certificates will be awarded by Police Chief Jacobs.

Season Swimming Ticket Prices Announced

The notice lists season family tickets at 20 dollars, adult 8 dollars, and junior 6 dollars. Coupon tickets charge 20 dollars for adults and 6 dollars for juniors. General admission is 50 cents for adults and 30 cents for juniors as repairs continue on the pool.
