Forty-Third Commencement Held for Carey Class of 1930

The Carey high school held its 43rd commencement with Rev. Fr Paul Vollrath delivering the invocation and Dean W. J. Bankes of Akron University giving the address. Eloise Bame was valedictorian with 95.59, Florence Holden salutatorian at 93.5, and several graduates named with honors. diplomas were conferred by Earl Burson. The program included performances by the orchestra and a girls sextet led by Martha Stoody and others. The community was thanked for support and cooperation.

Carey High School News and Upcoming Events

Last Tuesday the chemistry class visited a porcelain plant and undergraduates from grades 9 to 11 are selecting courses for next year. Miss Maurine Rudolph sails Friday with Ty Wurtzler in a party to Palestine via New York on the SS Caronia. They tour France Egypt and Palestine and witness the Passion Play. The Senior class held a picnic at Elm Hill and Carl A Bell visits. Junior and Senior agricultural engineering students toured the Huber plant at Marion. The Science club visited Wyandot Caverns. Mr Simon plans a junior band. first meeting June 10 at 1099 o'clock, inviting new bass and alto players. Grade cards issued Friday at 1 00 o'clock.

Janet Rose Simonis dies at Findlay Home and Hospital

Janet Rose Simonis, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Simonis, died at 5:40 AM after gangrenous appendicitis following surgery. She was born Jan 27, 1928 in Carey and was a first grade student at Our Lady of Consolation School. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery after funeral services at Our Lady of Consolation Church.

Piano Recital by Findlay Pupil Group at Lutheran Parish

Mrs. C. B. Dabney's piano pupils present their third annual recital at the Lutheran parish house Friday evening. The program features Schumann Soldier's March, Grieg The Butterfly, Mendelssohn Capriccio, Tschaikowsky Italian Song, and pieces by Blane, Bratton, Englemann, Trier, and others performed by students including Elaine Johnson, Joan Myers, Margaret Zeis, Donald Wenner, and Janis Wenner. Pentecost Centennial Observed In Carey Churches

Ohio Protestant churches plan a union service to mark the 1900th anniversary of Pentecost on Sunday June 8 at the Carey Evangelical Church. Pastors will give brief talks on The Compulsion of Pentecost Pentecost and Prayer Pentecost and the Church with an open forum for testimonies. A chorus of all church choirs will lead music under Prof. J B Moore in an informal service inviting all members and friends to attend.

Married in Kentucky at First Methodist in Covington

The ceremony united Perry McDaniel and Lorra ine Schrading in Covington Kentucky Tuesday at 10 90 am Rev Stewart performed the service. Witnesses were Mr and Mrs M C Winter aunt and uncle of the groom. The bride wore a green traveling suit with egg shell gloves and green slippers. The couple will reside with L R Ashley on return from a motor trip to Eastern points. Lorra ine Schrading, daughter of Otto Schrading of Milwaukee, moved to Carey four years ago. She graduated Carey High School in 1930. The groom, son of J A McDaniel, works with his father at Overland garage.

Boy Scouts Hold Regular Meeting at High School

Troop No 1 of the Boy Scouts met at the high school on Wednesday May 28. Tenderfoot tests were studied for those not yet ready while Tenderfoot Scouts practiced signaling. Games "Gray Wolf" and "Run Sheep Run" delighted attendees before dismissal.

Logsdon, 66, farmer killed by trolley near Urbana

A. C. Logsdon, 66, well known farmer and dairyman south of Urbana on the Springfield road, died after a collision with a southbound C. L. E. trolley car while driving his Ford coupe toward his driveway. Coroner's verdict cited a broken neck and internal injuries. He left a wife and 10 children and services were held at St Marys Urbana with interment in Oak Dale cemetery. Relatives from Carey, Urbana, Springfield and nearby towns attended.
