The Kings Store contest ran from January 1 to June 3 with five cent votes. Sophomores led late, finishing at 6990 votes to Juniors 5840, earning a $20 gold prize and planning the 1931 banquet. Mrs King funded and sponsored the event, praised by the student body.
The high school science club, 18 members, visited Wyandot Indian Caverns with faculty sponsor Truman Romig. Guides explained cave history and geology during a 45 minute tour. They thanked cave owner Mr Hess and Mr Snyder for the hospitality as Romig prepares to enter Ohio State University on June 16.

The annual post campben was held last Monday evening June 2 in the high school dining room. West side hosts. East side were losers. Cats served Weiner sandwiches ice cream coffee chewing gum and cigars.
Mr and Mrs George Ash attended the 46th annual convention of the Woman's Home Missionary Society of the Delaware district at the Methodist church in Marvnville. Mrs Ash presided over a program attended by about 100 women, marking the last meeting of the district as a distinct entity.
Mr and Mrs Forest Baker attended the funeral of William Conley in Fostoria on Saturday. William Huffman son of Mr Gilead and Clint Baker also attended. Burial followed at the Baker Cemetery three miles east of town. Mr Copley was a brother-in-law of the late W J Baker.
Mro and Mrs E M Keller enjoyed fresh potatoes from their garden on Saturday, and on Wednesday Mr Keller, alone for the week, cooked new peas from the same plot.
Arlington will play the Carey Cubs Sunday on the rubber plant grounds in a Quad County League game. Last Sunday, Carey lost to Jenera at Jenera.
The Luther League announces a bake sale at the rest room on Saturday June 14 starting at 9:80. Proceeds support church activities and community programs.
Kirtland Straw of Carey Ohio son of Mr and Mrs L E Straw will graduate with Williams College senior class of 1930 at the 136th commencement on June 16. He is a Delta Sigma Rho member and Phi Beta Phi honors, elected president of the Philosophical Union. He will teach mathematics and history next year at Adirondack Florida Preparatory School for Boys near Saranac Lake and Miami.
Beech Grove area group Beech Grove Ladies Aid met with Mrs Ernest Shane last Thursday. Members and guests sewed and shared a noon pot luck meal. Mr and Mrs George Metzger visited relatives in Sandusky City as Mrs Sarah Metzger 92 fell on the back steps at daughter Mrs Clayton Thompson's home and broke her leg. Mrs Thompson was later found with a broken arm at the foot of the stairs, with relatives unsure if a sleeping walk caused the fall.
Edward Feck Carey Keain, acting officer of the Townshend Agricultural Education Society at Ohio State University College of Agriculture, is named one of seven members to receive gold medals for activity scholarship and achievement. The society promotes literary abilities among students and awards medals each term.
Francis Robert Schultz died Wednesday morning at his home northeast of Frenchtown after a ten day illness with pneumonia. Born February 12 1928 he was the son of Mr and Mrs George Schultz and is survived by two sisters Marie Matilda and Laverne Josephine Funeral services will be held at the Frenchtown church Friday morning at 9 00 o'clock with Father Williams officiating.
A 4 pound daughter arrived Thursday evening for Mr and Mrs Homer Jacobs of Grove Street. A 14 pound son was born Wednesday morning at a Mt Vernon hospital to Mr and Mrs Russell Blue. The Blue family parentsMr and Mrs Almon Blue of this place visited them Sunday.
Hosea Tong clerk announces a public hearing on the Ridge Township trustees budget for the upcoming fiscal year ending December 31 1931. The session is scheduled for 6 00 pm on June 21 1930.
A spiritual retreat for girls and unmarried women will be held at the Shrine of Our Lady of Consolation starting Friday night July 4 and concluding Sunday night July 6.
The Tuber League moves its bake sale from June 7 to Saturday June 14. The event will be held at the rest room and supports league activities.

Preparatory and Holy Communion services set for Sunday at 10 30 AM and 7 30 PM with last summer evening service. Choir rehearsal at 8 00 PM Sunday and the Lutheran male quartet to sing a Ray Beebe composition. Summer schedule begins June 29 with details to follow. Pastor conducts services at Vanlue’s Lutheran Church Sunday at 2 30 PM with Holy Communion administered.
Knights of Columbus elected officers Tuesday evening with Grand knight Henry Davidson and other posts listed. A first degree exemplification is set for Tuesday evening June 17 at Tiffin, followed by second and third degrees on Sunday June 29 at Tiffin.
Entry damage occurred at Snyder Lumber Co on Cleveland Ave Sunday night. Intruders shattered rear door glass, tried to force the safe with a sledge hammer but failed to open it. An aviator cap and hammer were left, a Toledo expert opened the safe and repaired the door.
About 40 junior and intermediate Sunday school members at Memorial Evangelical Church directed the pageant “The Golden Gate” for children's day. A total of 265 attended the service and the class offerings supported general mission work.
A new street is being opened by S A Chesebrough through his land between North Street and Brown Avenue, parallel with Vance Street. He has moved flag stones from the E South Street school building for walks in front of the Jets and currently the street has no name.
A Friday evening recital at the Lutheran parish house featured piano pupils of Mrs C B Dabney Findlay. The audience responded warmly as the young performers delivered a high quality program though the title of Dortha Jean Wenner’s solo was mistakenly left off the program copy.
Sunday morning at Our Lady of Consolation church the banns were announced for Miss Romaine Hoff daughter of Councilman and Mrs W B Hoff and Richard Simon son of Mr and Mrs Wendell Simon of Ann Arbor destined for marriage.
Sunday morning ceremonies at Our Lady of Consolation drew 35 children for first communion and 28 for first solemn communion. Named participants include Joan Ruffing, Alma Neiderkohr, Robert Kessler, James Kramer, John Black, Leon Neiderkohr, and many others as charmingly dressed angels guided to the altar.
Crawford township trustees are upgrading roads in the area. The route from Mark Karrt’s residence to the township line is widened and graded to reduce hazards. Other improvements include sanded George Turner road, 80 rods of Bert Allion road paved to Poverty Run road, and 60 rods of Miles Mitten pike toward the 4 C and Y railroad. The mud road west of Charles Walters’ place is graded and paved, with completion expected soon.

The Logsdon couple welcomed a son named Joseph Wilfrid, born last week, and christened Sunday at Our Lady of Consolation church with Rev Fr Claude officiating. Sponsors were Mr and Mrs Joseph Jacoby.

Miss Wilda Bates daughter of Mr and Mrs W E Bates of Fostoria earns first honor after four years of all A grades in the College Preparatory course. She outpaced 86 competitors in a class of 87 seniors and plans to attend college to pursue a teaching degree.
Miss Louise A Romig daughter of Mr and Mrs S M Romig of west of town completed her degree at Wittenberg College last Thursday June 45 graduating cum laude She led Sigma Sigma Delta and Pi Kappa Sigma sororities and served YWCA cabinet and class secretary Her education began at Carey High School class of 1926 and she attended commencement with her family from west of town and Columbus.
Mr and Mrs J. R Rees of Battle Ground Indiana spent from last Thursday until Tuesday with Mr and Mrs Carl Krout and Mr and Mrs Cecil Laird. Rees, formerly an agriculture teacher at Battle Ground High School and Purdue teacher trainer, will be an instructor in the educational department at Purdue and supervisor of agriculture teacher training. He will receive his Master of Science degree in August.
Relatives report the marriage of Glenn Font, son of Mr and Mrs Walter Font Crawford, to Miss Clemen Welch of Take Charles La on April 26 1930 in Port Arthur Texas. The bride worked in the marine department office of the Gulf Refining Co and the groom is second mate on their SS Gulf Coast. The couple will reside in Port Arthur.

A new motor train runs between Sandusky and Grey Ironworks with the tram line carriages scheduled at 2 and 4 PM. It provides connections for passengers at Sandusky and links to the northbound Neo service, offering improved transit options in the region.
Walter Greer of Bell Laboratory Research in New York describes a two minute two way television demonstration from a Newark area booth linking to 195 Broadway. He saw an elderly man in Manhattan and noted the watch could not be read due to position while both ends communicated without visible transmitters.

The Woman's Home and Foreign Missionary Society of Christ Lutheran Church met at the home of Mrs R C Pennington. The program featured vietrola selections, devotions by Mrs Edward Riester, and a lesson on world missions titled Our Church Made It's Shine. New officers include president Mrs A Galbrauer and vice president Mrs Elmer Wonder, with Mrs Riester recording secretary and Mrs J P D Ewing treasurer. guest Rose Carlin of Findlay attended.
Leonard an engineer on the Bie Four Findlay Branch will be confined at home for a week or two after a railroad collision last Saturday. A stray cut of cars clipped the engine he operated causing the reverse lever to strike his legs. No bones broken but several bruises. Fireman Charles Pohind suffered a injured arm and will be inactive for time.
Large crowd attended Sunday evening services at Memorial Pentecostal church for the 67th anniversary of Pentecost. The event united three Protestant congregations with sermons on Pentecost and prayer by Rev Myers and Rev Roger Jurtell. lay speakers included Chesebrough, Levi Hile, and J W Bewell.
