New Pastor to Lead Christ Lutheran Church

The Christ Lutheran Church will welcome The Reverend John A. Root of Coshocton as its new pastor next Sunday June 4. Pastor Root, a former Toledo resident, is a Hardman seminary and Wittenberg College graduate ordinated in 1944 and previously served Emmanuel Church in Coshocton. The Root family, with three young children, will move into the redecorated parsonage.

Baby Undergoes Surgery In Detroit For Heart Ailment

Dennis Jay Orians three months old, son of Mr. and Mrs. Arlis Orians, underwent major heart surgery at Henry Ford Hospital Detroit for a blue baby condition. His condition is improving. The family has been staying with relatives in Mt Clemens and Upper Sandusky while awaiting and after admission.

Soldier Receives Promotion After Kyushu NCO Academy

Pvt. Paul E. Watson of Wharton, serving with the 2nd Infantry Regiment in Kyushu, Japan, graduated from the 24th Division Potential Noncommissioned Officer Academy. The four week course mirrors West Point and OCS, and graduates earn a corporal promotion when a vacancy appears. Watson attended Wharton High School and is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Watson. He previously served with the 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, before shipping overseas on December 20, 1948.

Methodist Talent Night Brings Local and College Talent

The annual Methodist Talent Night is set for Friday June 2 at 8 oclock. The program by M Y F church school members features German band music comedy skits vocal and instrumental numbers. Fetters Accepts New Position at Westinghouse Plant

James Fetters former heat treater for Curtiss Wright Columbus has taken a similar post at a Westinghouse Electric plant in Indianapolis and started work last week. Mrs Fetters and children Beverly Ann and Jimmy have lived in Indianapolis for two months. He is son of Mr and Mrs Harry Fetters of Carey and she is Gertrude Allen daughter of Mr and Mrs W R Allen of Carey.

At Bindlay College the 62nd annual commencement was held Sunday May 28 at 3 p m in the college chapel. Capable Carey Co-eds Welcome New Members and Demo Notes

The Capable Carey Co-eds met with hostess Artis Roynon last Thursday. Eight members answered roll call with a baby’s name. Four new members Susan Ehrhart Sylvia Musgrave Linda Treece and Patty Dennison were welcomed. Officers were installed and each paid up member received a 4-H pin. Roynon demonstrated items for a sewing box while Mrs Tewell spoke on making a gauge. Lunch was served by Sandra Hill and Ann Faber. Merchants Split Doubleheader With Shanty Town Team

Last Sunday at Memorial Park the Career Merchants dropped the opener 10-3 to Shanty Town, then came back to win the nightcap 4-2 in eight innings. Taylor pitched for Shanty Town, allowing only two hits as Carey also booted chances. In the second game Herman Fredritz faced Shanty Town ace Jessie Harris, and Carey prevailed 4-2 in eight innings with key hits from Rettig Ward and Fabiant.
