Carey Youth Critically Injured in Route 23 Crash

Harold Caudill of south of Carey is in St. Vincent's Toledo in critical condition after a car rollover on U S Route 23 near Fostoria. Passenger Emory Crawford 19 and Lester Right 27 were also injured. Caudill underwent surgery Tuesday morning.

JayCee Campaign Sprays Downtown and Residential Areas

Carey JayCees complete spraying in downtown fronts and rear of businesses and have started in residential districts to combat disease spreading flies and mosquitoes. DDT solution kills insects eggs and larvae, remains effective after rain, breathable vapor for days, and acts as a contact insecticide for weeks. Sprayers tag garbage cans and leave cards when no one is home. The group seeks public support and contributions for material costs in a non profit project.

Mr and Mrs Robert Moonhead of Oak Harbor former Vanlue welcomed a 7 pound daughter Rebecca Rose born Saturday at Port Clinton hospital. Brother Terry aged 10 lies in Maumee Valley hospital iron lung in critical condition. Sister Jennifer three, recently home from Port Clinton after July 13 appendectomy, is recovering. Wyandot County Reports Its First Polio Case

Wyandot County reports its first polio case of the year. David Schilling, 14, son of Mr and Mrs Henry Schilling of route one east of Upper Sandusky, was stricken Tuesday last week and taken to Children's Hospital Columbus where doctors diagnosed a mild polio myelitis. His condition has not worsened.

Orians Home Entered Sunday At Carey Memorial Park

The home of Mr and Mrs Lawrence Orians 334 miles northwest of Carey was entered Sunday afternoon while the family attended a reunion at Carey Memorial Park. Entrance gained by forcing a front door. Items stolen include a billfold coins keepsakes from a 15 year old Carol and her new shoes a pen and pencil set and change about 13 dollars. A dress for Donna was left behind on the front porch. Downstairs curtains disordered suggesting a lookout. Sheriff’s office investigating.

Carey Village Sued Over New Curbing Assessment

Ernest Dunn and other property owners on West Findlay Street filed a petition in Wyandot County Court of Common Pleas seeking an injunction to stop the Village of Carey from collecting the curb tax. The Carey Village Council met and voted to contest the injunction in the village’s interest. Details will be in next week’s Carey Times.

The Carey fire department was called shortly after noon Saturday to the home of Mr and Mrs John Seifert on S Lake street where clothing in the attic had caught fire. Considerable smoke was produced but the house sustained no damage as Mrs Seifert returned from Upper Sandusky in time to prevent a larger blaze.
