A July 30 pool pageant titled How Swimming Grew will be presented by boys and girls of the swimming class at Carey Pool. Father Neptune Davy Jones and other mythic figures will appear. rain date is the next night at game time. The writer cites a medical order forcing ten days away from the water.
Officials warn of dangerous speeding in the park with about 200 children present daily. They call for strict enforcement and immediate protection measures to prevent injuries or fatalities.
Beginning Monday July 34 Safety Week urges all parents to inspect Riis children bikes for lights brakes tires and handlebars. A Bike rodeo is set for Wednesday at 4 00 pm with tests and maneuvers for participating children. Police will check bikes and quiz riders on safety knowledge as the week ends with a parade Saturday noon August 6.
On Saturday August 5 a track meet for boys of all ages will be held featuring running events and special stunts with prizes awarded. Look for next week's paper for an article on Carey's recreation plans for the future.

A report recalls the first Our Lady of Consolation pilgrimage to Carey Ohio on May 24 1875 when over 1000 worshippers from Berwick carried the Image of Our Lady of Consolation to begin the Carey shrine. It notes annual August feasts candlelight processions and special trains and buses for pilgrims from Cleveland Toledo Detroit Youngstown and beyond with novena sermons by Rev Raymond Gosdyke.
Harold Caudill of south of Carey is in St. Vincent's Toledo in critical condition after a car rollover on U S Route 23 near Fostoria. Passenger Emory Crawford 19 and Lester Right 27 were also injured. Caudill underwent surgery Tuesday morning.
Don Traxler son of Mr and Mrs Gerald Traxler 306 S Patterson St graduated from the school of electronics at the Naval Aeronautics Training school Memphis Tenn and has been assigned to the aircraft carrier Sicily in the Pacific He remains in San Diego awaiting orders due to dental work preventing him from boarding with his unit
Next Sunday World Service Sunday features the film The Last Commandment shown during church school at First Methodist Church starting at 9 30 a m Attendance is urged as an interesting film and a good opportunity for citizens to attend.
Sara Romig of west of Carey and her cousin Sandra Caldwell of Bucyrus spent several days last week with their grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Linford Hallowell of Findlay.
The T R C club will meet this afternoon at the home of Mrs. Ralph Tanner east of Carey.
Carey JayCees complete spraying in downtown fronts and rear of businesses and have started in residential districts to combat disease spreading flies and mosquitoes. DDT solution kills insects eggs and larvae, remains effective after rain, breathable vapor for days, and acts as a contact insecticide for weeks. Sprayers tag garbage cans and leave cards when no one is home. The group seeks public support and contributions for material costs in a non profit project.
Mr and Mrs Robert Moonhead of Oak Harbor former Vanlue welcomed a 7 pound daughter Rebecca Rose born Saturday at Port Clinton hospital. Brother Terry aged 10 lies in Maumee Valley hospital iron lung in critical condition. Sister Jennifer three, recently home from Port Clinton after July 13 appendectomy, is recovering. Mrs Moonhead is former Carol Beard. Dale and Mrs Beard of Vanlue stay to assist Jennifer.
The July Jay- Cees meeting at the Knights of Pythias hall had one absence. Seven guests signed membership applications as Richard Spayd led the session for the first time. Rev John Root joined and showed a sports film loaned by City Loan Co Upper Sandusky. Luncheon followed.
Wyandot County reports its first polio case of the year. David Schilling, 14, son of Mr and Mrs Henry Schilling of route one east of Upper Sandusky, was stricken Tuesday last week and taken to Children's Hospital Columbus where doctors diagnosed a mild polio myelitis. His condition has not worsened.
Mr and Mrs Ralph Lanker and sons Billy John and Michael moved Saturday from 112 High street to a new home in Indianapolis where Mr Lanker has been employed by Smith Chemical Products Co for several months James Fetters now a resident of Indianapolis helped them move.

The home of Mr and Mrs Lawrence Orians 334 miles northwest of Carey was entered Sunday afternoon while the family attended a reunion at Carey Memorial Park. Entrance gained by forcing a front door. Items stolen include a billfold coins keepsakes from a 15 year old Carol and her new shoes a pen and pencil set and change about 13 dollars. A dress for Donna was left behind on the front porch. Downstairs curtains disordered suggesting a lookout. Sheriff’s office investigating.
The notice details several newborns born in July at Findlay and Mercy hospitals to families near Carey, Tiffin, and Upper Sandusky. Names include Ruth Ann, Mary Jane, Shelia Faye, James Holward, with parents and relatives listed.
Mr and Mrs Dominic Pieranun zio of 208 Dow Street announce the engagement of their daughter Giovannina Joan to Harold Nye son of Mr and Mrs Orville Nye of 120 Lake Street. No wedding date has been set.

Eddie Rickenbacher article on Aggressive Citizenship highlighted civic duties and warned that neglect could erode freedom. Ernest Dunn and other property owners on West Findlay Street filed a petition in Wyandot County Court of Common Pleas seeking an injunction to stop the Village of Carey from collecting the curb tax. The Carey Village Council met and voted to contest the injunction in the village’s interest. Details will be in next week’s Carey Times.
The Philathea Ladies Bible class invites members and families to a picnic at the home of Mr and Mrs Charles Robison southwest of Carey Supper will be served at 6 30 p m All are urged to attend this annual gathering for the group and their households.

Carey Merchants posted a 2–1 weekend in a three game series. Tony Fabiani pitched well in a 6–4 Friday win over Tiffin Nation als with Don Yingling and Charley Bland collecting two hits each. Sunday saw a 6–1 loss to Baldridge Tires as Jr Gottfried held Carey to three hits. In the second game, Carey beat Kenton American Legion 10–1 behind Henry Fredritz who struck out seven and homered.
The Wyandot County Hog Improvement Association sponsors a tour of the Mansfield reformatory on Wednesday August 9. Attendees meet at 8 a m at the courthouse in Upper Sandusky. They may bring a basket dinner or eat out. For information call Robert Mott Walter Klein Karl Hosafros Luther Still Lovell or the extension service office in Upper Sandusky.
Paul E. Salyer teleman third class USN of Carey Ohio has reported for duty to the Atlantic Reserve Fleet New York NY. The fleet serves as the reserve power of the Navy and Salyer entered the Navy in July 1948 after attending Carey High School.
Members of JHarl Green Post 13 44 American Legion are urged to attend the next Monday evening meeting. Publicity Chairman Melvin Roynon says important business will be transacted and a strong turnout is desired to foster a successful year with activity and fun.
The Carey fire department was called shortly after noon Saturday to the home of Mr and Mrs John Seifert on S Lake street where clothing in the attic had caught fire. Considerable smoke was produced but the house sustained no damage as Mrs Seifert returned from Upper Sandusky in time to prevent a larger blaze.
A Kirby festival is set for Sunday with a rain contingency Monday. The event starts at 4 o clock. Details remain unclear due to damaged text.
