Nearly 1000 Republicans attended the 8th District rally at the fairgrounds in Upper Sandusky hosted by Attorney General C William ONeill and family. Carey supporters numbered about 50 with a large buffet under a tent. ONeill spoke on state issues and his plans. The event featured Ivy Leaguers Ohio State University singers and Upper Sandusky High School Band. A tragic note came with the death of Assistant Attorney General William E Ryan 29 in a Napoleon area crash after the Henry County rally.

Robert E. Sweigard of the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation committee reports Wyandot County defied the national trend by voting 80 for to 104 against wheat acreage controls. Crane, Mifflin and Salem townships were strongly against with 19 favorable out of 74. Six votes were challenged. Ohio voted for controls for the first time in four referendums in recent years.

Injured Driver Hurt When Car Skids Into Pole

Pleads Guilty To Entering Carey Home
John Joseph Starr, 47, of Toledo, pleaded guilty to unlawfully entering a Carey home and was bound over to the Wyandot county grand jury on $1,000 bond. Unable to post, he was jailed. Starr, a Great Lakes seaman, recent Inland Steel employee, spent the weekend in Carey asking for yard work, then gained entry by breaking a window. Police recovered a theft luggage with radio and Glock parts, identified by J. Ziebarth as his property. Police tracked Starr after suspicions from R. Creeger and Robert McDaniel. Chief Pieracini noted Starr had worked in Toledo for three months.

The Carey Fire Department was called to Mrs Emma Pratt's residence at 233 High Street at 2 20 pm Tuesday. The blaze started above the bathroom ceiling and spread into the attic above the kitchen. Loss was greater to the house than its contents, with water and smoke damage to both. Cause attributed to defective wiring.
