Teachers And Pupils To Attend Methodist Laboratory School

Teachers from First Methodist Church Carey will attend the Annual Laboratory School for Children's Workers at Lakeside July 22 to 27. Enrolled are kindergarten and primary and junior staff, with several pupils including Mary Jane Lanning and multiple Myers and Frederick children. Sandra Hablitzel acts as babysitter, and Mrs Bland attends as Toledo district officer.

Water Ballet Plans and Swim Lessons At Local Pool

Water ballet practice begins at 9 30 each morning with sessions on Tuesday and Friday evenings if weather allows. Beginners swim classes run Monday Wednesday Friday mornings at 9 30 and 10 with instructor Mignon McChesney. Private lessons start Tuesday Thursday Saturday mornings with Miss Sharon Tong. A swim meet against Kenton is set for Wednesday July 25 at the Kenton pool. signups open at the pool.

Kurtz Family Plans Westward Auto Vacation

Mr and Mrs Hugh Kurtz and daughter Patricia of west of Carey will depart Saturday on a tweek auto trip. They plan to travel as far south as Mexico and as far west as Boulder City Nevada to visit friends.

Nightingale Nursing Home Host Receives Visiting Relative

Mrs F D Hurd visited from Wednesday to Friday with her cousin Mrs J J Hulse at Nightingale Nursing Home Cambridge. Mrs Hulse celebrated her 90th birthday on Thursday. A former Up per Sandusky resident, she has lived at the home since sustaining a hip fracture in a fall at her home in November 1954.

McCutchenville remains unbeaten in league play after a 14 to 8 victory over Carey. Winning pitcher Joel Weininger went all seven innings with 15 strikeouts, while Dick Hunter took the loss for Carey. Who Lost A Porker Police Chief Seeks Owner

Police Chief Henry Pieracim is seeking the owner of a 280 to 300 pound hog that roamed into the yard behind the Lutheran parsonage before noon Monday. Children chased the hog, and Arlis Ortans and the chief cornered it in the parsonage garage using a stock truck. The hog was taken to Orians stock yard.

Legion Homecoming Winners amid Stormy Parade Night

The American Legion held its second annual homecoming as a thunderstorm and cold drizzle reduced crowd turnout for the Friday events. Barbara Plott was named homecoming queen by popular vote and received a 17 jewel wrist watch after being crowned by Legion Commander Jene Orians. Other candidates earned $20 each. prizes and parade honors went to multiple participants, bands, and float entries despite the weather, with a large Saturday night prize drawing and numerous awards announced at the park.

Krupp Couple Dies After Akron Fire At Home

Leo Krupp and his wife Katherine died within four hours of each other after an early Saturday fire at their two story Akron home. Leo, 75, an estimator for Babcock Wilcox, died at 6 00 a m. Katherine, 74, died four hours later. They leave four daughters and two sons plus siblings and extended family. Funeral held at St Peter's Church Akron.

Fortnightly Club Attends Lakeside Convention

Carey Fortnightly Club represented at the Lakeside Federation of Women's Clubs 62nd annual convention held July 1 and 2. The Northwestern Ohio federation includes 76 clubs. Rev. George M. Dr Burson Family Returns to Arlington

Dr and Mrs Reid Burson and children Pamela and Phillip arrived in Carey Tuesday morning en route home from San Francisco via Tokyo where Dr Burson spent two years in the army. They had dinner with his parents Mr and Mrs Earl Burson and Mrs Ida Newcomer, then spent the week in Carey and Arlington before moving back into their home Monday. Dr Burson resumed practice with Dr Harold Treece.

Guest Minister at First Methodist Church

Rev David Williams of Columbus will be the guest minister this Sunday at First Methodist Church. Williams has been youth director at High Street Methodist Church in Springfield and is completing undergraduate work at Capital University in preparation for the ministry. Village council adjusts Waterworks Park charges and repairs

The regular meeting updated electric service rates at Waterworks Park to one dollar per day for visitors and for tables and benches, approved tree removal for delivery access, sought state permission for a right turn on red sign, and outlined curbing plans on N Lake Street and other streets. Additional items included park repairs, a new 375 KVA substation delivery, potential reinstatement of a full time officer, a sump pump replacement, vacation pay calculations, and a building permit for a garage addition at 143 St VianGe Street.
