Elza Jacobs Celebrates 80th Birthday in Carey
Elza Jacobs, longtime Carey resident and former upholsterer from Hancock county, marked his 80th birthday on Thursday. He moved to Carey from Biglick township 50 years ago and ran an upholstery business for 48 years. Active beyond work, he tended a 200 foot square garden on W North Street growing corn, potatoes, peas, tomatoes, beans, cabbage and pickles, doing all the work this season.

He and 16 year old Gene Stillberger, son of Mrs. William Stillberger, were injured when a scooter was struck by a car driven by Arthur Welly of Alvada on July 8. Gene has been discharged to home.
