The Carey Board of Education accepted resignations from Walter Bixler and Mrs. Doris Johnston as they move to Medina and Napoleon respectively. John Gregory of Ottawa Lake Michigan was hired as band director. Mrs. Ruth McMaster from Wharton was hired to teach home economics and sixth grade. Gregory and his family will relocate to Carey.

Mott couple attend 98th Elks Grand Lodge Convention
Mr and Mrs Robert Mott of Carey north east area returned from Chicago where they attended the 98th Grand Lodge Convention of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks. The event drew over 15000 delegates and families. Lee A Donaldson of Etna Pa was elected grand potentate at the close. Carey school bonds sold for expansion and improvements
The Carey village school district sold $580 000 worth of bonds Wednesday to Ryan Sutherland Co of Toledo at 3.144 percent interest. The firm bid a premium of $13 157. Six bids were received. Sale authorized by voters at the May 8 primary election.
