Carey Firemen Answer Three Alarms This Week
Carey volunteers responded to three calls over the past week. A grain dryer at the Mott farm on Greer Road northeast of Carey exploded about 3 50 p m Wednesday, destroying the dryer and 400 bushels of wheat. The propane fueled unit had its cause undetermined and the loss was insured. A coal car fire on a C and O freight train delayed traffic Sunday afternoon for about 1 1 2 hours at Elm Hill Road before unloading at Walbridge. A grass fire behind 319 East Findlay Street Monday afternoon was extinguished with no damage.

Family Claims Lost Child Found On U S 23
A 5 year old boy wandered onto U S 23 near Lovell and was found by R J Wenzin ger. He was taken to the Wyandot County sheriff's office where his family, visiting the area, claimed him within a couple of hours. The boy reportedly is mentally retarded.

Carey Homecoming Parade Honors Float Winners
Carey Jaycees' Traffic Safety float won first prize in the homecoming parade last Thursday evening. Second prize went to the Carey Band Mothers with a lyre backdrop and ensemble. Third prize was awarded to the Carey Little League. Miss Vicki Heckw as crowned queen with Miss Esther Patrick passing the crown. The event featured majorettes, Carey's band, antique vehicles, beauty college models, and a live demonstration by the Legion and midway acts.
