Carey lodge No. 407 I O O F sets a regular meeting for Thursday July 18 at 8 o clock. Noble grand G L Wisner and vice grand Charles Hall will be installed with Ss. Stover of Findlay district deputy grand master acting as installing officer. All members urged to attend.
A July Times item about a Carey workman who fell on a construction job may have misled readers. Harold Logsdon, son of Mr. and Mrs Wilfrid Logsdon of Carey, was seriously injured May 14 yet is improving and travels by car wearing a cast. The magazine Monitor from the Ohio Industrial Commission noted no final claim record yet, though the case had been reported.
The 19th Shaw family reunion meets July 21 at Harrison Smith park Upper Sandusky with Miss Janis Bingle as secretary treasurer. The 30th Smith Baughman reunion gathers July 28 at Riverside park Findlay. officers include Clarence Baughman president Dale Robison vice president Harold Hee secretary Charles Loader treasurer Florence Amerine and Francis Loader program chair Leona Crawford.
Rev. B. L. Lee pastor of Memorial Evangelical Church will enter Grant hospital in Columbus Wednesday afternoon for an operation Thursday morning July 18. Mrs Lee has been very ill and will stay at the home of Rev. and Mrs. D. F. Brose in Upper Sandusky during his hospital stay. He expects to be gone a week to 10 days.
Sunday evening July 21 residents invite to a Fried chicken potato salad and sandwich social with refreshments and entertainment on the church lawn. If rain forces a change the event will move to the following evening.
Watkins, train master for the A C and Y railway, moves from Akron to Carey. He and his wife rent Ernest Dunn’s new house on W Findlay Street. Mr Watkins recently returned from overseas service.
The Order of the Eastern Star of Forest marks its 60th anniversary with a Friday August 2 party at 8 PM in the Forest gymnasium. All Eastern Star members and Masons are invited.
A Carey W T U regular meeting is set for Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the home of Mrs L E Offenbacher on B South Street. All members are urged to attend and bring a friend.
The automatic crossing device on N. Vance Street proved unsatisfactory, so A., C. & Y. Railway installed flashers to take its place. Electrical controls of the former unit were too complex to be dependable.
A marriage license was issued in probate court to Leroy Gottfried of Carey, a laborer and son of Robert Gottfried, and Betty Sherman of Carey, daughter of Carey Sherman.
The Carey Moose softball team beat the Fremont Moose 7 to 4 Sunday afternoon at Swanfield. It is scheduled to meet the Upper Sandusky Elks at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Swanfield, followed by a 2:30 p.m. Sunday game against Mansfield Moose at the same site.
Recent callers including Mr and Mrs McDonald of Carey and Mr and Mrs Schlachter and families visited Mrs Virgil Schlachter near New Riegel. Mrs Schlachter recovers from leg bruises after a July 5 auto wreck near Fostoria. her 2 1/2 year old Faye Louise suffered a double fracture. The Theils of Kirby and the Schlachter and Reidlinger families joined the visit.
A group of neighbors harvested nine acres of hay Thursday on the Eldon Shaffer farm in Ridge township to assist Mr. Shaffer a patient at Findlay hospital. Workers included Ray Shaffer Orville Lee Harold Lee Norman Lee Bud Tong Rolce Decker Cletus Wisner Dale Wisner John McDaniel Arthur McDaniel Paul Walters Gerald Baughman Floyd Shaffer Orville Wohlgamuth and Stanley Opper. Mrs Ray Shaffer Joyce Shaffer Mrs Ross Decker Sue Carol Mrs Noble Vogel Mrs Orville Wohlgamuth Nina and Zelma Tong provided meals.
Friday evening Mrs J H Wagner Mrs Ralph Williams Mrs Harlan Roynon Mrs Walter Dible and Mrs Albert Howard visited Mrs Adam Koehler in Upper Sandusky. Koehler is sister of the other women and aunt of Mrs Howard. She is recovering from a severe skull fracture suffered seven weeks ago after a fall on a porch cement floor.
Mr and Mrs Clarence Hoepf with children Vicki Eugene and Clement attended a Canton christening. They served as sponsors for the infant daughter of Mr and Mrs Fred Kohmann. The baby was named Rita Jane.
The real estate tax books for the June 1945 half year will close Saturday, July 20, 1946. The county treasurer Karl F Kraus announces the office will stay open through the noon hour from July 15 to July 20.
The 4-H club held a July 10 meeting to discuss a picnic set for Thursday July 18. Refreshments were served. The next club meeting is planned for July 24. Irene Pratt, Reporter.
Mrs Bessie Harper who has led the high school home economics class on Thursday afternoons this summer leaves for a two week trip to Hot Springs Arkansas and will resume teaching on August 8.
The Pythian Sisters plan a meeting Thursday evening July 18 at 8 o clock with initiation and a birthday social on the agenda.
Due to the Knights of Pythias hall being unavailable Thursday July 18 a studio representative will be at the Gilliland home 207 S Patterson street just south of the hall from 2 to 8 p m He will bring proofs of the children pictures taken for publication in The Carey Times.
Mr and Mrs Frederick Kohmann of Canton welcomed their daughter Rita Jane born June 24. Numerous relatives and friends visited and spent weekends with families in Carey Upper Sandusky Fostoria McCutchenville Toledo Canton Bascom and Meadowbrook Park hosting picnics and gatherings with the Advisory Council Group No B 4.
The Memorial Evangelical Church youth group plans a Sunday night service with Rev. Paul C. Walter of the East Findlay A.B. charge as speaker. Special music will be part of the program and the public is invited.
Leo J. Bernard returned Friday from the July American furniture market and Merchandise Mart in Chicago where he was on a buying trip for Bernard Furniture Store. He says manufacturers are trying to keep prices at or below the OPA ceilings for the next 0 days.
The 36th Robison family reunion gathered Sunday at Harrison Smith Park in Upper Sandusky. C. E. Robison presided over a business meeting. officers elected for 1947 were President C. E. Robison Vice President O. O. Corbin Treasurer D. C. Robison Secretary Donna Wonder. An afternoon of visiting and recreation followed. next year’s reunion is set for the second Sunday in July at Harrison Smith Park.
The Sinclair Oil Co. is laying a pipe line between Columbus and Detroit crossing farms northeast of Carey in Wyandot county. The fields of William Spackey A. G. Collet estate Robert Miott Lewie Reis Karl Zint and James Green host active crews digging trenches with special machinery to bore under highways and connect pipe segments already buried.
Eddie Carr Rish son of Mr and Mrs E L Rish of Marion Indiana is enrolled in the Woodcraft Division of Culver Summer Schools in Culver Indiana His parents with Mrs Rishs mother Mrs Charles Carr of Carey Ohio spent the weekend at Culver and attended the Council Ring of Indian Dances Saturday and the Sunday dress parade Mrs Carr returned to Marion after visiting her daughter
Mr and Mrs John Snook of southwest of Carey mark their 56th wedding anniversary this Sunday, August 25, with relatives and friends joining in the milestone.
The Methodist Sunday school Junior Hi class hosted its annual picnic at Riverside Park on Sunday afternoon. About 35 members and guests shared a noon dinner. Mr and Mrs L E Offenbacher, the class teachers, served as chaperons. Attendees enjoyed swimming and various amusements.

Mercy hospital in Tiffin welcomed Edward Dale to Mr. and Mrs. Silverius Lafontaine of north of Carey on Monday at 9 p.m. The 7-pound son joins Gladys Wuebbe’s daughter Esther with parents Edward and Esther Goshe of Carey. Mary S Esther born to Raymond and Esther Kessler 30 miles northeast of Carey, with the mother’s family roots in Carey. A daughter to Nelson and Jeanette Gault of Kirby born Sunday night in Findlay hospital, linking to Carey lineages. Bruce Hunter and wife of Columbus, formerly of Carey, welcomed Jack Edward, a 6-pound son, July 10. One child in the family is deceased.
Fort Royal and nearby town residents share visits and calls over the weekend. Mr and Mrs Arthur Lininger hosted friends Friday night, while families including the Kurtzs and Baughmans made calls across Vanlue Findlay and Upper Sandusky areas. Louisiana visitor George Pendleton joined Willis Baughman on the Friday contact.

Dr E V McKee resumes dentistry at 117 S Patterson St Carey in a remodeled home office. He previously practiced in Bowling Green and Pemberville for years before joining the U S Navy as Lieutenant Commander in the dental corps. He served at Great Lakes and in the Aleutians, later leading his department at naval dispensaries. He is the son of S H McKee of Carey and is well known locally.
Dr John J Vogel formerly Mary Manse College philosophy professor heads a revived Apostolate of Catholic Evidence. He begins in Riverside Park Toledo at 8 p m Monday with a talk on prayer, hymns from car-mounted amplifiers, Scripture reading, and a Q A session with Father Stephen A Lepen. The program runs Monday through Friday in Toledo with rotating speakers and a question box on site. The stand and question box were built by his brother Francis to accompany the street ministry. Talks cover topics from Jesus to old time religion with no collections, sponsored by St Michael Parish Toledo and next week by St Mary Parish Millersville.

Upper Sandusky and Carey councils of the Knights of Columbus installed their officers by District Deputy Earl Thomas of Upper Sandusky on Tuesday evening July 9 at the Carey hall. Refreshments followed the meeting. A special meeting is set for Tuesday July 30.
