Local youth Daniel Smith dies in railroad crash near Carey
Daniel Carlton Smith aged 17 of Carey area was instantly killed when his Ford struck the side of an Akron Delphos freight train at a crossing two miles northeast of Carey. Funeral services were held at Carey Methodist Church with burial in Spring Grove cemetery. He attended Carey High School and worked baling hay with Paul Hetzel. Survived by parents Paul and Nora, brother William Paul, and sister Colleen Sue. The accident was investigated by Sheriff B H Stansbery and Coroner J B Probst.

Parkers Parking Fine Reduced If Ticket Goes In One Hour
The city amended the parking enforcement ordinance making overtime parking cost motorists ten cents if they present the ticket to the police within an hour of the marked time. Funeral for A Graves Williams Noted Portsmouth Leader
