Grass Fires Keep Carey Firemen Busy All Week
Firemen battled multiple grass fires around Carey and Vanlue area this week. A 12 acre Walter farm wheat field seeded to grass burned after sparks from burning paper and a locomotive hot cinders were blamed for several fires along the tracks. Ralph Pratt and helpers assisted at the Walter farm and Romig farm on Friday, with losses including wheat standing in one field.
