Donelson Wins Shuffleboard Singles Title on July Fourth
Nineteen men and 15 women contested the singles at the shuffleboard courts starting 1 p m on July 4. A E Donelson beat Charles Iden 80 to 68 in the final, while Mrs Denver Donelson defeated Mrs Iden 80 to 57. A large club picnic followed at 6 30 in the park pavilion. Tuesday evening doubles saw A E Donelson and Denver Donelson win the finals, with Dave Cotner and R F Wright taking the consolation.

Briar Cletus Collet of Assumption Seminary Chaska Minnesota and S Sgt Nicholas Collet of Eglin Air Force Base Florida, sons of Mr and Mrs Andrew Collet east of Carey, returned July first for a twenty week visit. Pvt Norman Collet was home from Camp Breckinridge Kentucky July four until Sunday. Sgt Collet expects discharge between August first and sixteenth. He enlisted September 1948 served with a fire fighter squadron in Alaska for nearly two years and since January has been a fire fighter instructor at Eglin.

Injured Woman Recovers After Fall At Home
Mrs. John Kessler of east of Carey is recovering from injuries after falling down stairs late Saturday. She received stitches for lip and chin lacerations and a concussion. A June 28 fall led to a Blanchard Valley hospital X-ray showing no jaw fracture, and she is largely up again after a period of bedrest.

Firemen Battle Blazes at Two City Homes
Firemen answered calls to the Harry Ehrhart residence where a brick fireplace fire destroyed a small play house and scorched part of an adjoining barn. The same day at Millard Hagerman's apartment on S Vance Street, flames were extinguished with only slight damage to household goods.

Storm Damage Seen On Return Trip Near Carey
Mrs. Ralph Heck of northwest of Carey traveled to Cleveland to visit her son and daughter in law Mel ford Heck and Raymond. En route they visited William and Miss Julia Friend in Norwalk where about 100 uprooted trees lay across streets and yards. The storm disrupted Norwalk telephone service and damaged a house on main street where a falling tree crushed the rear upstairs.

Pvt. Leroy Caudill Jr. is confined to a Japanese hospital after an eye surgery to restore sight in his right eye. He lost vision previously and surgeons warned the left eye could be affected without operation. Caudill has attended a mechanic's school since arriving in Japan last January. First New Wheat Arrives In Carey Farm Bureau Area
