Dennis Collet of S Lake Street reported an accident at 4 25 a m July 4 near 615 E Findlay Street after swerving to miss a turning car and hitting a village pole damaging a 1960 Chevy 350 and the pole 225. William Dill Jr of Arlington faced reckless operation charges after colliding with a parked village pickup on June 30 at W Street damaging the truck 335 and his 61 Chevy minor paint and scratches. Arden Dunlap of Frederick Street was cited for failure to yield after pulling into Maurice Gaster’s path on E North Street at 530 p m July 6 causing 100 damage to Gaster’s Ford and 100 to Dunlap’s Plymouth 2.

Harold E. Briggs 41 of High Street died at 4 a.m. July 4 in Indian Trail Nursing Home after a long illness. Born May 28, 1927 in Carey, he was the son of Jacob and Hazel Briggs. Survived by his father, brother Ross of Findlay, and sister Mrs May Messmer of Upper Sandusky. a brother preceded him in death. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church Carey. Services were 2:30 p.m. July 6 at Goff Funeral Home with Rev. Richard R. Morgan officiating and burial in Spring Grove Cemetery.

Daniel Holden Carey and Gary Stewart depart from West Liberty on July 8 for a six week European tour. They plan one week in London two in Paris and three in other Eastern European countries in connection with the Ohio Education Association. Carey motorcycle chase ends with bonds in two courts
A July 4 high speed pursuit by Carey Police and Wyandot County deputies ended with Dennis Suber arrested after racing through Carey and county streets. Suber posted 225 bonds for red light, reckless operation and resisting an officer, plus 150 for fleeing an officer. No passenger charges were filed.
