On June 29 the Carey Jaycees and Jaycee-ettes held a joint installation and awards dinner at Riverview Inn in Tiffin. Officers included President Mrs Robert Jacob and Louis Hoeps for the Jaycees, with Mrs Paul Bame and Mrs Jerry Geir among honorees. Special awards went to Mrs Paul Bame and Mrs Cletus Ortans for Outstanding Jaycee-ette and Outstanding Committee Chairman.

Toledo student artists at IBM 1620 computer exhibit
Darel Eschbach Jr., manager of the University of Toledo Computer Center, envisions art from computer generated patterns. Works have appeared at the Montreal Museum of Art and will tour the Institute of Contemporary Art in London for three months starting in August. Some pieces were produced in three minutes while others took up to forty minutes. The designs were inspired by a friend requesting unusual embroidery patterns.

Three Accidents Reported In Carey On June 28
Carey Police report three separate collisions on June 28. Jeanette Sexton backs into a parked 1963 Plymouth on Newhard Street, causing rear damage. Vanda Davis is treated for neck injury after a collision on Edlay Street when Mary Steinmetz rear-ends Davis in a 1967 Ford. Gary Risner claims an unknown vehicle forced him to swerve into a parked car on East Findlay Street, damaging his 1963 Fairlane and the other car's front fender and wheel cover.

J F Dible presided at Carey Kr Club gathering at Bowl-Era and Kiwanis International convention. Dr H K Van Buren introduced speaker Attorney Cassel who outlined tax structures and warned General funds will fall by January 1 if revenue sources aren’t found. He proposed a Municipal income tax or estate tax as possible fixes. He noted Village needs funds to operate police and fire services and keep governance intact. The village current revenue totals roughly 75 000 dollars annually from real estate taxes, interest, electric department, sales tax, liquor fees, and meter income.
