Injured McLaughlin in Dayton Traffic Crash

Isadore McLaughlin of 678 West Street remained in Miami Valley Hospital Dayton after a 3 am Saturday crash 10 miles north of Dayton. He suffered four leg fractures head injuries and other trauma. his condition improved slightly Tuesday but consciousness is incomplete. The crash involved a Buick failing to stop and another vehicle that ran over Mr McLaughlin dragging him 25 to 30 feet. the intoxicated driver was later arrested on bail.

Carey Forms Little Leaguers Baseball Team

A Carey youth baseball team for boys aged 8 to 12 has formed. Manager Louie Buckingham plans games with Tiffin and New Riegel and the Little Leaguers will play before the Baughman Auto Parts games. Local players listed include Wentling Stapley Miller Stombaugh Bland Dasher Orians Smithley Jesko Long Greer. A practice was held last Sunday at Memorial Park and a game schedule will be announced later.

Move to Maryland for Capt. D. B. Moyer family

Capt and Mrs D B Moyer and children Danny Linda and Sharon moved June 12 from Springfield Massachusetts to Cheverly Maryland where they rented a house. In May the captain transferred from the 8th Weather Group at Westover Field near Springfield to the 9th Weather Group at Andrews Air Force Base Washington D C. He is a son of Mrs F F L Moyer of Carey.

Huffs Sell Albuquerque Home to McKinnons

Mr and Mrs George Huff of Albuquerque New Mexico formerly of Carey sold their house at 25 W Findlay street to Mr and Mrs Howard McKinnon. The McKinnons moved from Vanlue on June first. They have two daughters Sheila six and Cindy four.

Carey Swimming Pool Announces Classes and Record Attendance

The pool lists beginner, intermediate, adult and lifesaving courses with July start dates and a 60 cent book fee. Attendance on June 29 reached 510 under high temperatures, and June totals hit 8 266 swimmers. John Van Doren, 82, became the pool’s oldest swimmer, plans for a Water Carnival in August are proposed. Tom Atking attended the Red Cross Aquatic School in Camp Sutherlyn and was named temporary water safety director for Wyandot county.

Woman to Join Husband at Camp Carson Colorado

KIWANIANS TO TAKE BOYS TO CLEVELAND

Veteran receives 1952 Buick under public law 187

World War II veteran Charles W. Lauwdenslager, partially disabled by war injuries, took delivery of a 1952 Buick Model 45R Riviera on June 21. The government covers 1600 toward the car price for eligible veterans. His right hand was amputated after a grenade explosion near Baccarat, France, on November 14, 1944.

Kirkwood Family Reunion Weekend Highlights

Mr. and Mrs. Roy Kirkwood hosted their children and grandchildren for a weekend gathering. Attendees included Aldo Cesarini of Boston and Mrs. John Borentz of Los Angeles, plus the Yates family from Springfield and Gerald Rickle with daughter Michele. Borentz stayed until Wednesday and joined Jon Yates for a return trip. Cesarini and Mrs. Cesarini plan to head home today after visiting Coldwater, Michigan last week.

American Legion installs new officers at regular meeting

Earl Greenpost Post 344 held a regular meeting Tuesday evening and installed officers including Commander Ralph Pieracini, 1st vice Carl Turnbell, 2nd vice William Keller, adjutant Daniel Odone, service officer Paul Krupp, treasurer Edmond Pahl, sergeant at arms Grove Walborn, chaplain Leslie Newcomer. Thirty members attended and lunch with chicken and noodle soup followed. Next meeting set for August 5.

Miss Patricia Laird to Return from Europe

Miss Patricia Laird of Munich Germany spent a week in Vienna and plans to sail from Bremerhaven in late July. She will be met in New York City by her parents Mr and Mrs G Laird after serving since May 1950 with the Office of Special Investigation of the U S Air Forces in Europe.

Kiwanis Talk Highlights Animal Diseases and Vet Schools

Carey Kiwanis heard Dr. H. R Wenner discuss treatment and control of animal diseases including anthrax tuberculosis and hoof and mouth. He noted efforts to prevent spread from Canada and Mexico and that only 19 veterinary medicine schools exist in the United States.

Municipal Building Highlights Safer Sewer Compliance and Meter Upgrades

About six property owners remain in violation of the 1939 sanitary sewer ordinance. Village Manager Ridley sent 30 day compliance letters and may sue for enforcement. Water meters are being installed with about 40 defective units to be replaced this month. some homes lack meters yet pay minimum rates. Street work nears completion and vacant lots are being weeded. Jaycees receive pavilion concession and event permits for August 15 to fund civic projects. another stand is rented. Visit Michigan Relatives From Milan to Toledo

Carrier Pigeon Spends Nights Near Carey Home

Over several weeks a gray pigeon with a red breast has spent nights on the roof of Mrs. F. L. Moyer at 627 East Findlay Street in Carey. The Alfred Gardner family first noticed the bird arriving in the evening and it departs before morning.
