The American Legion Earl Green Post No 344 will publish a book of war service records for local veterans. Ex service members should submit a plain name on the back of a photo with their information on forms being mailed to them. Books will be sold by the local post and more details are available from post officers.
The Robison family hosts its 37th annual reunion Sunday July 18 at Harrison Smith Park in Upper Sandusky with CG B Robison as president and O O Corbin as vice president. The 31st Smith Baughman reunion follows July 27 at Riverside Park Findlay led by Clarence Baughman president and Ray Cravens as vice president. The 19th King family reunion is planned for August 3 at Meadowbrook Park Bascom with dinner at noon, led by Daniel King and Mrs Edgar Bloom as secretary.
Marion Bland sustained back injuries after falling from a hay load onto barn flooring near Crawford. His father George Bland, who was already hospitalized at Findlay, drove him home after the accident. X rays showed no broken back though arthritis complicates his condition.
Police Chief H M Pieracini said Careys traffic safety check started Wednesday afternoon despite a shower. Twenty five cars were checked with several minor discrepancies noted. two cars were found without brakes and drivers cited to appear in mayor s court. Two highway patrolmen assisted local police.
The American Legion Auxiliary invites members to a July 17 picnic at a roadside park near Upper Sandusky on Route 23. Members should bring two covered dishes and sandwiches plus a beverage. meet at the Legion hall at 4 00 o clock. Supper at 600 26-27 COMMITTEE.
The Jennie Larmonth Missionary Society of Christ Lutheran Church will meet Monday evening July 14 at 8 o'clock in the home of Mrs J Ziebarth on W Findlay street. Mrs Walter Gottfried will lead the topic Faith of Our Fathers, Living still.
Eagles hall hosts a Saturday night event featuring round and square dancing with music by W. J. Williamson's orchestra of Fostoria Co W LAUCHENSLAGER serves as secretary and organizer for the event.

The Carey Moose defeat the American Legion team of Findlay 17 to 6 on Sunday evening. The Moose racked up 20 hits and remain in first place. A Bucyrus Moose game is set for Sunday July 13 with a big event planned for Legion members and families.
On Thursday evening July 31 Carey Moose will host a first degree initiation Mansfield degree staff invited to Carey to conduct the ceremony A large class of candidates is expected
Members are urged to have their candidate attend the meeting on Thursday night July 31 and take the Initiation. A dinner will be served Sunday August 3 for sponsored candidates and their families.
Joan Long daughter of Mr and Mrs Robert Long of Brown Avenue suffered a deep cut on her right leg above the ankle while playing with a coaster wagon in Houcktown on July 4. She received seven stitches at an Arlington physician's office, was brought home Friday afternoon and has been bedfast since. She will return to Arlington Friday for further treatment with her mother present.
Arrangements have been completed for Renee Dubois, former partner of the late R M Lonsway, to continue to represent the Farm Bureau Insurance Companies in Carey and the surrounding community. Dubois had worked with Lonsway since April 1 1947 in underwriting and servicing auto, accident and health, general liability, fire and life policies from 219 Clay Street.
The PR 8S club meeting set for July 10 is postponed to Sunday evening July 27. Mrs Wallace Ruehle near Adrian will host at her home for members, their husbands, and children to enjoy the evening.

Harold Tafton reports a deflated balloon found on the Sherman Huston farm two and a half miles east of Wharton. A note attached said it was launched at 7 15 p.m. June 24 by Ellshart Fish Market in Ellshart Ind and asked to be notified where found. Be khart is about 175 miles from Carey.
Russell H. Kurtz resigns from the Russell Sage Foundation to become executive director of the New Hampshire Citizens Council. The independent nonpartisan group studies welfare issues and provides information, advice, and a clearinghouse for action. Kurtz is noted in Who's Who in America and has held other social work leadership roles.
The Dorcas Bible class of the Methodist Sunday school meets Thursday July 17 at 8 pm in Mrs Charles Walters house on E Findlay street. Hostesses Mrs Katie Redman and Mrs L E Offenbacher assist. Important business to be transacted and a large attendance urged.
Local and personal notices fill a scene of summer travel and family visits. Nye spent June 29 to July 3 with uncle Charles Drening in Kansas. LeRoy Schultz and wife stayed with the Summit couple in Columbus visiting on Saturday. Schultz daughter of Summit. S H Krebs of Toledo on week vacation from War Assets Administration recovering from a fall at the Willys Overland warehouse. Eddie Carr Rish, 10, son of E Rish Marion Indiana, attends Culver Summer School woodcraft camp and drums in the corps. Mrs Charles Carr of Carey visits and accompanies Eddie to Culver on July 2. the Rish family hosts a week in town.
The Franciscan Fathers hold their annual retreat at the Seminary of Our Lady of Carey from July 7 to 11 led by Father Andrew Henze. About 60 friars participate, with many attending priests who have served or studied in Carey.
Mr. and Mrs. W. R. McConnell of Madera California will spend the summer in Carey and then proceed to New York City for engagement at Columbia University where he will pursue a master’s degree in commercial business education. The couple recently visited Mrs. McConnell’s parents on B South Street after a coast to Mexico trip with a return via Seattle and Yellowstone National Park. They also filmed portions of their journey with Mr. Rushmore.
John Bakies Daniel Odone Rich ard Ward Glenn Walborn and Ed Bakies of the American Legion bowling team earned prize money at the state tournament held May 4 in Columbus. Bakies and Odone placed 12th in a two man event with 1223 total for $42.50. Ward and Walborn were 36th with 1178 for $10.00.
Appreciation note states The Blue Haven has been sold to Mr and Mrs Al Fleck of Fostoria. Thanks community for patronage during care. The sale was arranged without a real estate agent and the new owners are Mr and Mrs Graydon Hill.
Mr and Mrs Earl Stevens Jr depart on a motor trip visiting Quebec Buffalo Niagara Falls New York City Washington DC and points in Kentucky and Ohio They will stay in Newark Ohio as guests of Mr Stevens father Baril Stevens Sr and his wife.
Twenty children enrolled in the Crawford Church daily vacation Bible school will take part in a closing demonstration Sunday at 9 30 am. The public is invited. A picnic will follow on the church lawn Friday.
St Josephs Church Salem township hosts its annual festival on Sunday July 20 on church grounds six miles south of Carey. Local residents and visitors are invited to enjoy the event with activities and refreshments planned for all ages.

Stationed in Korea Pvt. James Richard Conley son of Ronnie and Maudie Conley of Clay street serves in the regular army in Korea. He enlisted on February 7 1946 for three years after turning 18. Born in Denver Kentucky he finished Pittsburgh Evening High School in California and played basketball football bowling and hunting. His younger brother Pvt. Johnnie Conley also enlisted for 18 months and is stationed in New York City with the 903rd AAA Battalion.

The first annual Carey Lions club picnic is set for Tuesday July 15 at 7 o'clock in Meadowbrook Park Bascom. Members and guests are invited to attend the community event hosted by the Lions club at Bascom's Meadowbrook Park.

Fire Chief Don Hunter rushed to locate a fire on a Saturday afternoon only to learn the blaze was striking his own EK North Street residence. The fire started near a bathroom hot water heater and caused paint damage in the adjoining kitchen while most of the fire burned within the wall and under a metal roof. A 28 frame kitchen addition and brick main house, insulated to limit spread, helped contain the flames. a section of the metal roof was removed to ensure full extinguishment.
The Rev Leo S La Fontaine Lutheran missionary to Puerto Rico will address Christ Lutheran Church next Sunday July 13 at 10 30 worship service. He will also show colored motion pictures of Puerto Rico and its Lutheran churches at 9 30 p m. The public is invited to Sunday school and worship.
Miss Jane Thomas daughter of Mr and Mrs Edgar Thomas of northwest of Carey will leave next Friday for Vancleve Kentucky to attend the Kentucky Mountain Bible Institute for a weekend. On the 14th she and Miss Mildred Drake will leave Lexington for San Francisco where Miss Thomas will join the Pentel Mission.
Wyandot County Treasurer Karl F Kraus announces the real estate tax books for the last half of June will close July 20, 1947. The office will be open over the noon hour during the last week.
Miss Rita Ann Myers daughter of Mr and Mrs Harry Myers of N Muncie street began nurse training at St Vincent’s hospital Toledo on Monday July 7. She is a 1947 Carey High School graduate.
The Bucyrus city ordinance lowers the first hour parking meter fine to 25 cents, down from the previous 1 dollar rate. The change applies to violators tagged after June 1.
