The Carey Homecoming opens Thursday July 6 at 6 pm. The American Legion and Auxiliary will serve home cooked foods at the Paul Krupp Pavilion featuring chicken and noodles, home baked pies, salads and sandwiches.
The 1967 Home Parade schedules a 5 30 p m start with a route from East Findlay Street to Memorial Park. Businesses are urged to enter decorated vehicles and floats. judging occurs between 5 10 and 5 90. Parks, prizes, midway entertainment, dancing, and fireworks follow with sheriff and police support during the event.
Carey village council met Monday in regular session. One bid of 2860 for a donated four wheel drive vehicle for the volunteer firemen was submitted by Ken Stahl Chevrolet. Third readings passed on Ordinances 624 625 and 626 while tax budget readings paused due to absences. Special meeting planned to address the issue and an absent councilman. The Junior King and Queen contest by Kappa Delta Phi Sorority crowned Tina Hotelling Queen and Timmy Lang King. First and second runners up are Tammy Roynon Carolyn Noon Conrad Pence and Mark Smith. The winners and families must meet at Dorcas Carey Library 4:30 to 5 p.m. Friday to ride the sorority float and receive trophies.

A Michigan licensed 1906 French automobile with chain drive wooden spoke wheels and a cloth stop drew a crowd last Thursday in the business section. A gentleman his wife and three children exited to answer questions about the restored car after completing an 800 mile trip.

Carey High School vocational agriculture teacher Carl Cupp will attend a three day conference at Ohio State University Columbus July 10 to 12. The event, announced by James Dougan State Supervisor, focuses on More Efficient Learning Through Improved Communication with speakers from Ohio State University Dr Martin Essex Dr Edgar Dale Dr Ted Jensen and Dr Clyde Miller. Curriculum and instructional materials will be introduced for about 400 Ohio vocational agriculture instructors.
Robert J Long 38 of Zanesville Ohio died Saturday night when a speed boat rammed a houseboat on the Muskingum River two miles north of Zanesville. The speedboat operator Wilson Wood Jr of Zanesville was unhurt. Long formerly of Toledo was district manager for Monumental Life Insurance and survived by wife Donna Byrne and two children Gregory and Twacy.
The Carey Shuffleboard Club held a July 4 potluck supper and tournament with about 40 members. Top bracket winners were Bill Crowe and H Rogers over Lucille Hoops and Paul Conley. consolations saw Mary Shiley and Harold Donelson beat Irma Smith and Henry Pieracani. Friday night winners were Mary Pieracini and Roy Schonberger over Edwin King and Clarence Reinhart.
