Senior Class Party at High School Holds Evening Fun

The senior class hosted a party Thursday night January 24 at the high school. Attendees enjoyed ping pong, dancing, and group games. Betty Niederkohr led the refreshment committee serving sloppy joes, coke, and potato chips. Hosts Miss Smith and Miss Clagett and guests Mr Wentling Mrs Wentling and Mr Hartman joined in the festivities.

New Industrial Arts Instructor Arrives at Carey High School

Carey High School welcomes Donald HEH Wilson as the new Industrial Arts instructor. He resides at 1541 Accommodation Avenue, Columbus, and is an Ohio State University graduate from 1948. Wilson recently completed most of a master’s degree, served four plus years in World War II and 16 months of active Navy duty, and arrives while his family stays in Mansfield awaiting relocation and shipment of furniture from Washington.

French Club Holds January Meeting and Talks on France

The French Club met January 14 in Miss Grieser’s room with full attendance. Anita Gibson and Barbara Rothgeb led the program after a brief business session, Barbara presenting an engaging talk on France with pictures. The group adjourned to February.

Fourteen Wyandot Men Inducted For Army Service

Seventeen? four?teen young men from Wyandot County traveled to Toledo Tuesday for induction into the armed forces. Names listed include Nelson Garfield, Rich ard Baker, Dennis Jewett Yates, Robert Bugens Arfold, Garey Willian Bougtan, and others. The next induction call is set for February 7, with a pre induction physical examination planned for February 21.

Police Warn Meters Must Be Operated After Each Deposit

Police Chief Henry Pieracini cautions motorists to turn the meter handle after every coin. Some drivers seek free parking by hoping officers will engage meters, a violation. Officers will issue tickets when coins are not properly registered, as meters are damaged daily by unregistered deposits.

Carey man bound to grand jury in manslaughter case

Franklin McKenzie, 24, of Carey was arraigned before Justice L C Schoenberg er in Upper Sandusky on unintentional manslaughter and bound over to the grand jury. He was involved in a November auto crash that killed John Paul Ruehle and his son Donald Paul and seriously injured three other family members.

Saltzmans Buy Bay River Cave and land near Carey

Mr and Mrs M J Saltzman purchased the River Cave and 7 acres of land adjoining their farm northwest of Carey on Route 16 from Dennis Clark Findlay. The veterans club building had been used for years. The deal was brokered by Arthur B Stoll, a licensed real estate broker.

Polio Fight Behind Basham Family March of Dimes

In Columbus Ohio a district captain for the March of Dimes leads a polio fund drive. Mrs Basham recalls four of her ten children afflicted in 1946 with one crippled for years. The family now backs the Parents' March on Polio as part of the January to February campaign.

Registered bull undergoes operation in Columbus

A valuable registered bull owned by Willis Putnam two miles west of Carey on Route 15 was operated on at Ohio State University Monday forenoon after X rays found wire and other foreign substances in its stomach. Two pieces of wire several inches long were removed along with metal shavings and a tooth. The bull will stay at the clinic about ten days under careful sanitary precautions.

Community Club Hears On Mental Clinic Plans

Mrs. Stanley Stever of Sycamore spoke to the Carey Farmers' Community club at the K of C hall about a proposed Wyandot county mental health clinic in Tiffin. The county will not participate, per prior action by local organizations. A musical program followed and plans were made for the Ladies' Night banquet at First Methodist Church on February 25.

Foster couple sells Toledo street home to Gardner couple
