Carey High School Students Donate for Wyandot Relief

Carey High students answered a Red Cross flood relief appeal for Wyandot County, contributing $50.45 in one day with more to come. An educational film "The Pilgrims" was shown, and the 50th anniversary yearbook theme and binding were announced. Honor rolls for six weeks and semester list numerous students, including Eleanor Krout and many others.

Carey Council No 1925 K of G votes 25 to flood relief for Red Cross. Father Herp reports flood distress in Louisville with seven marooned. Fr Benedict Rubeck praises relief efforts. Next meeting Feb 8 with talk on Communism. Spaghetti lunch served by Ralph Pieracini and social committee.

Hymnal Project At Methodist Church

The Methodist church planned a Hymnal project with members giving books for Christmas. A total of 115 hymnals are now donated, including a leather bound pulpit copy given by the Wesleyan Guild class. Individuals funded most copies. comments praise new hymns and fine printing for singability.

Lutheran Brotherhood Meets For Dinner Tonight

The Brotherhood of Christ Lutheran church hosts a dinner meeting at 6 30. Ox tail soup is on the menu as Rev D Bruce Young of Shelby outlines the evening address and Shelby's popular mayor. President Lawrence Wenner promises an enjoyable evening for all men with activities after the first session.

The Carey Community Institute starts February 5 and 6 at the high school auditorium with speakers Stanley B. Stowe and Mrs Florence Eickmeier. The program includes music, magic, a film, and a farm oriented panel discussing soil building and national policy affecting farmers and families.

Carey Community club discusses flood relief efforts

The Carey Community club met at the Moose hall to discuss flood relief funding and urged support for the American Legion and other groups. County officials prepared the program, and speaker talks covered rubber growing in Siberia and Boy Scout activity plans for next summer. Luncheon was served by R. M Orians and partners.

Carey Aerie No 2198 mailed a 350 check to the American Red Cross in Cincinnati for flood refugees. S W McChesney reports employee contributions total 100 dollars for the Carey relief committee. Earl Green Post American Legion and the Legion Auxiliary sent 25 dollars to Columbus for relief funds.

Community Institute Entries Details for Carey Area

Entries for the Carey Community Institute must be brought to the high school by Friday morning February 5. Non perishables may be brought Thursday February 4. Agricultural products belong in the agriculture room and foods in the domestic science room. Entrants must reside in or consider Carey home. Agricultural entries must be produced in 1936 or 1937 on the entrant's farm. baked or canned goods should be home products.

Sociability Supper at Methodist Church

Tonight the GSociability potluck supper at the Methodist church hosted by the Wesleyan Guild invites the entire church membership their friends and the friends of the church. Groups should bring a dish and table service. Coffee and arrangements will be provided. Supper starts at 6:15 pm and ends 7:30 pm followed by a mid week service and choir rehearsal.
