The 50th graduating class from Caréy high school took a minor step toward graduation by selecting invitations. The invitation committee pared three options to one, a flat fold formal invitation noted for its simple, attractive design.
Almost the entire enrollment attended the Monday and Tuesday Shakespeare presentation at the high school. Annual visits by Shakespeare works delight students as imagination is tested through staged performances rather than reading alone.
The F F A boys hosted their annual banquet in the high school home economics dining room with Mr Crimithie the county agent as guest speaker. Ninety one students attended the evening featuring canned music and orangeade served by the student council. 91 pairs of feet departed by 10 30. A later pep meeting in the auditorium pledged strong support for the basketball team and upcoming games against Upper Sandusky.
The vacated post by Mr Wentling was filled Monday morning by Mr J K Line of New Hampshire Ohio. Line becomes the new chemistry and manual training instructor at the school.
The F. F. A. held a large banquet at the high school for parents. A German band performed two selections and a talk on highway safety was given. Speakers included Mark Karr and Harold Reinhart. Total attendees were 56.
Mrs. S. W. McChesney learns her cousin Mignon McGibeny Burr will marry Charles G. Dawes Jr. The ceremony is set for high noon on Saturday. Burr is noted for starring roles with Ernest Truex and Joseph Santléy in prior productions.
Carey institute sessions Friday and Saturday February 5 and 6 feature speakers Stanley B. Stowe of Marion County presenting on educational farm issues production methods and rural economics. Mrs Florence M Sickmeier of McClure also speaks on five topics including Stories of Grit Our Enlarged Circle of Living When Ma Rogers Broke Loose A Child in the Midst and Some Things My Community Needs.
A. G. Collet announces his annual horse sale to be held Thursday January 28 1937 at the usual place with a catalog of stock expected.
A large crowd watched a John Deere Semi-Diesel pull five 14 inch plows and a three-horse cultipacker over heavy ground without strain. The tractor used distillate fuel and is recommended as a two plow machine. Morrisey urged a feeder attachment to finish work in one pass at his Carey showroom. Centennial day February 13 advertised.
The annual stockholders meeting was held at the bank on a Wednesday evening. Directors re-elected: George Ash, W. S. Bish, L. G. Ranger, Fred W. Ewis of Findlay, T E. Dromgold and Henry Stief. Dromgold became president, Ranger vice president, Bish secretary, C. W. McGill cashier, Luther Haines assistant cashier.
The Brotherhood of Christ Lutheran church will hold a dinner meeting next Thursday evening January 28 at 6 30. One main course is ox tail soup. The speaker is Rev D Bruce Young D D of Shelby who is minister of a large parish and has served several terms as mayor of Shelby.
Public invited to a dance at the C. K. of O. hall in Carey on Thursday night January 21. A new orchestra will play rhythm for the young and square dances for the older, and all are welcome.
The 11th annual Scout Leaders dinner of the Harding Area Council, Boy Scouts of America, serving Wyandot, Marion, Crawford and Morrow counties, will be held at Hotel Marion on Thursday January 21. Local dignitaries, Perle L. Whitehead of Cincinnati as speaker, a Little Acorns Mighty Oaks pageant, Silver Beaver award, 25 year veteran badge for Arthur S. Brooks, and a year end report by Mr. Brooks will highlight the event hosted by Scout executive Arthur S. Brooks.
A. W. Weigel of Cleveland renews his subscription to The Carey Times after 50 years of reading the paper. He praises the newspaper and expresses interest in the upcoming Community Institute noting his hobby of prehistoric Indian relics and a pear preserve can from Carey made in 1887.
The Carey Farmers Community club plans its regular meeting Monday evening January 25 at the Moose hall. The program committee includes B. E. Hudson Wm J Hunter and Judge Russell H Kear. Vincent Orians Raymond Orians and Ira Matteson will handle the eats committee.
Mrs Edith Stroub, widow of Carl L Stroub, underwent a minor tumor operation at a Findlay doctor on January 4 and is slowly improving at her home 639 Cherry Street Findlay. She has been ill since Christmas after moving from Carey.
The combined Crawford and Ridge townships farmers meeting is rescheduled to Friday afternoon January 22 at 1 30 in Carey high school. The gathering aims to explain the 1937 soil conservation program and elect committeemen for the year, promoting balanced use of soil conserving crops and fertility.
L. N. Zahn of Carey district Boy Scouts chair presented to the Carey Kiwanis Club at its regular Monday meeting the 1537 charter for Boy Scout Troop No. 22, sponsored by the club. R. B. Hamlet accepted for the club as Arthur Brooks of Marion spoke on Baden-Powell.
Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Himmeger of Delphos announce the birth of twin daughters on January 12. Nancy Hileen and Nannette Blaine each weigh four pounds. The mother is Martha Moffet formerly Buzard. The babies are great grandchildren of Harvey and Carey, and Edwin Nye is a great great grandfather.
Claire Gipson, Sales Tax Examiner for Wyandot County, will assist vendors with sales tax reports in Carey at the public library on Friday January 22 and Friday January 29 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. She will help in making out sales tax returns.
The American Legion Auxiliary will meet next Monday evening. The social committee includes Mrs Robert O Connor Mrs Russell Gottfried and Mrs Mr Shafer. Turkey sandwiches are rumored to be served.
A son was born Friday night at Mercy hospital in Tiffin to Mr and Mrs John Drummonds of 8 Patterson street Carey. An S-pound daughter was born January 13 to Mr and Mrs Edward Albus, 3 miles northeast of Carey.
All members are requested to attend the regular meeting Friday evening January 22. The program includes installation of officers followed by a potluck supper.
The Dorcas Bible class of the Methodist Sunday school will hold a social session in the church parlors Thursday evening at 8 o'clock after services. Mrs. Ella Smith chairs the committee with members Mrs. George Ash and Mrs. Jacob Fruth.

The Pythian Sisters will hold their regular meeting this Thursday evening at the hall. Members of the degree staff are asked to be present.
The Rebekah lodge will hold a regular meeting Tuesday evening of next week. Members are urged to attend and participate in planned activities and reports.
The Sisters and pupils thank Mr Capell for inviting them to A Midsummer Night's Dream and note posters and community institute work underway. Sth Grade boys study serving Mass under Father Joseph, with James Calmes and John Orjans serving for the first time.
A short verse by Toseph Vaughn laments life without mother sister or brother and thanks them for care. The speaker asks God to keep the family together and to reunite in Heaven.
Townsend club will meet Monday evening January 25 at the Carey public library. Attendance has been good but organizers want more people to hear the discussions. Everyone is invited. DLZA Garn, Secretary.
Free Scourse has purchased the residence on Spatterson Street from H A Stoll. Stoll had recently bought the same property from Guy M Chesebrough. The deal was arranged through The Newhard Powell Real Estate Agency.
Grover Gerding the Grand Worthy President will visit Carey Aerie No 2198 Fraternal Order of Eagles on Tuesday evening. A good attendance is urged.
Herbert Lenner of north of town underwent a serious operation for hernia and appendicitis at Findlay Home and Hospital on January 12 and is slowly improving.
The Young Ladies Sacility announces a mixed dance at the Catholic hall on Tuesday evening February 2 with music by Riley's orchestra.
